Default No Wedding Rings? sims 4
My sims got married... no wedding rings show up on their fingers after getting married.... why?

EDIT: Honestly my intentions were not to spew up an argument. I only posted to clarify whether this was a glitch or in fact just a missing feature. I did research before-hand but to no avail. Which is why I posted here. I don't like to cause arguments in the threads >.<. First time poster here, long time lurker xD.

OH OK thanks very much. I wasn't aware they took out that small (yet powerful and meaningful) feature -_-. Thanks for letting me know; I tried researching about it but nothing came up, which is why I posted here... thanks again ^^

There's not even a proper ring to choose from and *pretend* it's a wedding ring.

It's like this game was meant to be played as single young adults who likes to collects frogs and aliens.

You mean like Sims 3? Well replace frogs and aliens with fish and butterflies and you're basically describing Sims 3.

I can't remember but wasn't the wedding ring thing also an issue in Sims 3? Like I don't think they did get them at least not in the vanilla base-game. I remember being disappointed about it back then as well.

Why couldn't they have fixed that.

The thing is - as broken as TS3 was, it didn't take away the basic elements of life simulation. It did take a giant step back but it still had a lot going on for it other than collectibles. The Sims 4 is completely empty in that regard, and what did make it, is missing all the details.

And yeah, you didn't automatically get a wedding ring in TS3, which sucked on its own. But at least you could select it in CAS... TS4 doesn't include any ring that resembles an wedding ring and goes in the right finger But it does have 65 different types of MySim Trophies for you to display on your house :lovestruc

We will have agree to disagree on that regard. To me TS3 was empty and lifeless, just trendy, over-styled YAs prancing about in an ultimately rather empty world, from one Rabbit Hole to the other and collecting Flowers of Life and Angelfish which they then craft onto shrubs to grow them on plants.
TS4 is, in my eyes, despite it's shortcomings, at least gave the Sims a sort of soul back. The families seem like families again , children are fun again, teens have more options than in TS3 (have you had a teen couple 'mess around' yet? No inteen needed anymore!)

The only real part of a "life simulation" that is missing (that Sims 3 had) are the toddlers, they are missing still. Beyond that I couldn't say anything essential to a life simulation that is missing when compared to the Sims 3 basegame.

I guess we will disagree, then. Sims do have some life back, I agree, I just don't have anything to do with them.

Hence they have "more interactions". They couldn't bother to give teens anything special, other than renaming "woohoo" to "fool around". Meh.

Speaking about woohoo, by the way, that thing is like taking a cold shower. There's not even a make out option in bed or the option to relax together or something. You just agree on fucking, take a 3 seconds sleep after that and that's it. See ya.

I guess that's why there's no wedding ring, they don't seem to have any chemestry on those marriages lol.

Well there's also promise rings (which probably also don't give rings...lol) I don't know I personally don't have that much difficulty telling teens and adults apart 9 out of 10 times i guess right. Sure I would prefer the teens to be shorter, but it I won't claim anything ridiculous like "there's just three age groups now "

The funny thing is, you say you don't find anything to do with the Sims in Sims 4, and that's okay, but I had that exact problem in Sims 3. I like to do two things in Sims: 1) olay virtual dollhouse and for that I don't need Sims gollywonking all over the neighborhood like in Sims 3 (not that I ignore the community lots, I just don't use them that often) and 2) play out sotrylines between families and so I can't have SP mucking them up.

Right now in my game an impoverished Malcolm Landgraab and his lover Varya conspire for Malcolm to seduce Cassandra Goth to get their hands at the Goth family fortune, Bob and Betty Newbie have their hands full with five children, Daniel and Mary Sue Pleasant try to live off the land with farming and fishing, a single mom named Ariel Glover is preforming as a pianist in bars all night while her son sleeps all the while she is dating Michael Bachelor (a man half her age) on the side. There is so much to do. With each family I explore a different aspect of the game.
The only time I was bored was playing the premade Caliente/Lothario household, so out of the neighbourhood they went. Family play is (in my eyes) already better than Sims 3 and it will be amazing once they reintroduce Toddlers!

But...there are. Especially now that teens can woohoo. What's the difference between the stages other than teens not being able to get pregnant? I mean, teens somehow ended up having better jobs than adults but that's about it :/

I guess we'll have to wait for that "Teens and Dating" expansion that Graham said we'd have (which was...for some reason....in response to whether or not we'd have more emphasis on Family Life) before teens are more than just skinnier, infertile adults. Granted, that was a problem in previous games as well but at least the teens actually looked like teens and had clothes that were exclusive them so you know they're teens. What if you have an adult in TS4 who dresses younger because they're going through a midlife crisis? Or a teen who doesn't dress like your average teen? Minds will be blown!

And there you say it yourself....teens were always just infertile smaller, skinner adults. Now they have the same height, which makes sense in real world terms, but not in terms of the art-style. If you look at the real world, what difference is there really between the average 16-year old and the average 25-year old? The 16-year old will be and look more youthful (in general) and will be in high school (hopefully). What great difference do you want?

Though I do miss the "sneak out" function from Sims 2....

There wasn't a great difference I was looking for but some difference would have been nice. Aesthetic differences would have been nice. At lease some exclusive interactions would be nice. Sneaking out would be great! It's small details that TS4 (and TS3) left out that I miss the most.

Hmm, I haven't noticed that because most of my sims have lots of jewelry on, I love jewelry.
I'm actually happy with this new feature because I don't like commitment rings, they look like dogs wearing collars to me.
But it's funny because the engagement animation have a ring so I just assumed that there was one.

When i saw the thread, i wanted to make an ironic comment on how i never cared for wedding rings anyway and i'm glad that EA did us the favor of taking them out. I just can't believe that someone made that comment and meant it serious

There's a solid band under Accessories/Rings for the left hand that I use for the wedding band for my guys. For my gals, again under Accessories/Rings, there's a ring set for the left hand that looks like a diamond ring and a solid band together. You'll need to use the filters to be able to have the rings show up on all of the different outfit categories. I know, for example, the "standard" Athletic settings don't allow jewelry. Can't remember the other categories that do the same.

I was coming here to say the same thing.

You have to remember that our right is the Sim's left. Most of the rings in CAS are for their left hands.

It's funny how that is pretty much the go-to argument everytime someone brings up a missing feature.
Gotta admit though, I hadn't seen the "wedding bands are so oppressive" angle coming.

Well, they can't get the most basic thing like spouse renaming (or a choice to) right it wouldn't be a big surprise that married sims don't wear rings.

Well, it's a cultural device that I don't like. I saw an amusing video this week called Replace The Word 'Engagement Ring' With 'Lunchbox' And You Realize How Silly The Tradition Is that summarize what I think about engagement/wedding rings.

It's just a wild guess on my part, but I guess you've never been engaged or gotten married in real life, have you? Because unless you found a true soul mate as a partner, perfectly in sync with your world view, the "Silly Tradition" thing is not likely to work. Just sayin'.

I may be incorrect since I'm only 20, never been married, and have never been in a relationship that lasted more than a few months but I don't think people really value the ring as much as what it represents :/
