Default How do you get the focused mood?
It randomly happens to my whiz kid, but nobody else in the house can make "focused" happen. My computer whiz sim needs to get "focused" to play video games for x hours, but I can't get her focused at all. Are there objects that I don't have to unlock that could help? Is there some action I can do?

Focusing decor includes the Space Prints and Elements along with some Tech Guru rewards. Read at least the one book, Honing Your Mind's Eye. Ponder moves on the chessboard.

Also I believe using the observatory, microscope and computer can make your sim focused, but I'm not exactly sure of the specifics.

Carl's has a good list:

Also if you hover the mouse over the go to school focused or whatever message you are getting it gives you a clue about getting focused.
Like in the section about school it will sometimes want the kid to go to school energised. Hovering the mouse over the command tells you that you can take a brisk shower to get energised. It took me a while to figure that out. LOL but I am a tired mummy and I get a bit slow on the uptake from time to time.

coffee made her energized instead of focused. The chess board worked though. I wish the microscope was a realistic size though. Who wants that beast on the lot?

Odd, the microscope makes my sim inspired instead of focused. I get the inspired by science moodlet.

Pitch black tea gives the focused moodlet. Earl Grey gives confident moodlet. Steamy Ginseng gives flirty. Healthy Green gives a general happy moodlet. Oolong gives energized. I forget the last one.
