Default Adults Sometimes Look Like Young Adults
I know EA has added the feature that shows a sim's age under their name; however I usually do not use it since I found it easy to tell a YA from an Adult, well until now. It's no secret adult sims have those creases beside their mouth to make them look older, but once in the game, I am not able to see those creases to tell the difference anymore... Is it just the lighting or does anyone else share this problem as well?

Someone should really make default replacements for those facial wrinkles.

The new Create-A-Sim is definitely an improvement.

I've never been able to tell young adults apart from adults by just looking at them, with some exceptions. :p

That's exactly WHY they added that. Because even they knew they screwed up when it came to distinguishing the ages XD

Yeah... and I love how so many people say things along the line of "if you look very carefully [...] you can tell the difference" and "you just need to turn your graphics all the way up." Umm... no. EAxis messed up. No one can tell YA/Adults apart, but some people can tell Teens and YA/Adults apart (like me, generally-speaking).

Once again, we really needed different skin textures for different ages. There's aging well and there's barely changing at all between 18 and 54.

1/8/2016: New avatar! Pre-censored for EA's approval.
3/19/2015: Teens are too close to YAs. EA needs to either shorten the teens, or add preteens and make YAs look older.

Sometimes??? In game I've never seen any consistent and easily identified differences between teen-adult. And in my game, since elders do not seem to show any signs of age anywhere else but in CAS, they look like young adults too. The only thing that distinguishes them is the gray hair. Take that away, and everyone teen and up looks exactly the same.

I have noticed that some sims once becoming elders take about 2-3 days before they actually look like elders out of cas. For my game at least.

So the way I'm taking it is no one has noticed the wrinkles on Adult sims? I'm not trying to incite an argument over the teens and young adults body type thing. I'm just concerned with the subtle detail they put between Young Adults and Adult, which is the wrinkle beside the mouth. I used to be able to see it, my graphics have been on the same setting since the beginning of the Sims 4; however I cannot find the wrinkle anymore...

For ease's sake, "Adult" means the Adult lifestate and "adult" means both the YA and Adult lifestates.

In CAS the difference between the four ages is quite prominent, but out of CAS, the vast majority of people have severe difficulty distinguishing between YA and Adult sims. Most people have difficulty distinguishing Teens and the adults. Some people have difficulty distinguishing between the Teens, adults, and Elders.

It would be helpful if they had different heights and differences in their body frames to distinguish them.

I've learned to live with it because I enjoy the game, but the game would be more enjoyable if there were better distinctions.

I do notice some changes. Men get bags under their eyes and women get puffy cheeks but it's very subtle so I barely notice it.

Let's play a fun little game called "What Age Am I?"

Here are some of my sims (in-world)... guess their ages! If you get all of them right, the Sims team gets a pass. If not, FAIL!

Sim 1:

Sim 2:

Sim 3:

Well, the second sim may be a teen... the rests are just YA for my eyes... but looking at body meshes... some of them still look like teens. What if the first girl... maybe?...

ARGH... I can't handle it... Tell me what ages are those sims!

Uhhh... teen, yadult, yadult, teen

EAMaxis original is so hard to read and I forgot how bad. Ty kijiko your skin texture edit makes my sims so pretty and easier to tell who is old

It's hard telling a teen from an adult. That annoys me more than anything. My nephew let his Sim get into fist fight with another Sim. Then the next thing you know he heads off to school and we're both like :O

Don't worry I notice this too, especially after 1.7 (the date invites patch). One very glaring evidence I encountered is that my sim got invited over by a neighbor for a birthday party. The neighbor aged up to adult after the party and I couldn't tell the difference. I'm very sure of this as this is one of the sims I made in CAS, not a townie. They most likely messed something up with the patch, like they always do.

The teen's muscles, shoulders and breasts are a little smaller then the adults, adults have lines around the eyes and mouth.
There might be more differences but thats what I've noticed

Adults having lines around their eyes (which In my game only show up in CAS) would actually be something concrete to look for, but as far as your comments on teen physique I'm just not getting how you can reliably count on that. With body shapes being the way they are in this game its quite easy to have a young adult look scrawnier. I have noticed those differences too in CAS, but only when I take a sim and swap it between each age stage so I'm seeing the same sim grow up before my eyes and thus noticing those differences in that one sim. For me, sims out in the world don't have any sort of comparison, so I really don't can't tell if they are smaller in some areas because they are teens or because that's just their body type, and those differences (to my eyes) are extremely slight, especially in game and not in CAS.
