The teens from Veronaville? My whole life revolves round them! Some of my best friends are teens living in Veronaville!
I'm thinking of course not just of the pre-made playables, but of also of all the teenage CAS Sims, townies and ex-townies, Downtownies and ex-Downtownies who live in and around
our Veronaville. (I no longer say "my Veronaville", it belongs jointly to myself and my Sims!) I think I prefer playing teens to playing adults, and they have come to dominate my game. As I play with aging almost permanently off, they are all still teens. Of the pre-made playables, Mercutio, almost uniquely amongst my teens, has no romantic involvement yet. Hermia wanted nothing more to do with him after he hit her at Puck's party. Romeo is going steady with Juliette, but he's not her only love interest. She's going steady with my CAS Sim Jamie Siddons too. Being the Capp heiress carries certain privileges, and having two steady boyfriends is one of them. One day she intends that they will be her two husbands. Regrettably she doesn't extend the same licence to her boyfriends. She expects fidelity from them. Which is a pity because Jamie is also in love with poor little Glenda McBain, a remarkably childlike CAS Romance teen. I dread to think what will happen when Juliette finds out. I like her, but she is a Capp. She might take after her grandfather. Poor Jamie never meant to fall in love with either of them. He meant to concentrate on his school work and just make friends. But Hormones?! Who'd have them?
Capp Manor? The outside world sees Consort as a tough hard-nosed businessman. He once beat up an innocent townie woman just for being in his way on the sidewalk. But at home his grandchildren know how to wrap him round their little fingers. The Manor seems like a permanent teenage party. Poor Consort - he once found 6 teens in varying states of undress in his private bathroom. Hermia, who was instrumental in getting Juliette together with Jamie (she thought it was funny), was going steady with Puck until she found him doing something unspeakable (she won't tell me what) with another
boy. She went out with Miranda, looking for a new boyfriend, and she tried to get off with Gerry McBain, Glenda's even more childlike kid brother, but Gerry preferred Miranda. So now Hermia is trying to get back with Puck. Tybalt has got into a serious relationship with Lexie Kauker, a very feisty Fortune Downtownie girl. (Her favourite pastime is noogieing boys!) Consort thinks she's an eminently suitable match, and an early wedding is on the cards. She has moved into a downtown hostel for townie teens, and Tybalt has spent a few nights with her there.
Goneril and Albany's family recently moved into Cappland, a house built for them beside the market. As I already mentioned Miranda, the only teen there, is in the early stages of a relationship with young Gerry McBain. I hope she's gentle with him; Gerry looks about twelve!
Puck Summerdream? Poor kid, like many of the local townie boys, he fell into the clutches of my notorious Cornton brothers. Living with their appalling father Tom, these two gay Romance brothers, Gordon and David were trying, with the aid of an Easy Bed, to seduce every teen male they could meet. David Cornton spotted Puck in the street outside their Downtown house, went out to greet him. He then lured him first into the house, and then into his bed. . . Puck tried to put the matter behind him. He proposed to Hermia that they go steady. But he stayed friends with David and he kept thinking about him. When Oberon and Titania finally decided to get married, Titania thought it would be nice to invite Puck's friend David as well as his girlfriend. Big mistake. Puck and David got together and, whatever they did, Hermia was watching. I don't know what they did because I was watching the wedding. Hermia won't tell me, but she says it was "quite disgusting".
As for the Veronaville townies, Mallory Mace, Keith Cormier and Amar Larrea are now all playable and live in the same Teen Townie Hostel as Lexie Kauker. Keith and Amar were both involved in the Cornton brothers' shenanigans as was Jihoon LeTourneau. Keith is trying to put his gay period behind him and is trying to go steady with Mallory. Amar is really quite messed up. He has a steady boyfriend in Berjes Wilsonoff, a former Downtownie teen, another former "victim" of the Corntons, but he still holds a candle for Gordon Cornton. This leads to frequent rifts with Berjes, who now can't stand the sight of Gordon even though they were once lovers. Berjes himself, though he started as a Downtownie, must count as a Veronaville teen now. He stays in the Via Venezia with Antonio Monty, where he acts as a live-in nanny for Beatrice and Benedick. Jihoon LeTourneau shares a little Downtown house with Jamie Siddons. Jihoon chose to live there to be near Gordon Cornton, but then he discovered just how many "boyfriends" Gordon had. Now he's going steady with Ralph Enriquez, another Veronaville townie. When Ralph decided to become gay (by autonomously kissing Jihoon at a nightclub, in the background when I was playing other Sims) he changed from wearing baggy jeans to pink shorts! Ralph is still a townie, as are the three original Maxis Veronaville townie teen girls that I haven't mentioned yet: Kendra McCarthy, Chris Cho, and Nancy Philipine. Kendra is the steady girlfriend of BJ Shaikh, the Tricou Goth with the long black coat and black lipstick. BJ lives in a little Gothy cottage hidden among the trees near the canal. Many of my other teens find Kendra very hard to get on with. Chris and Nancy have no love interest that I know of, but they have plenty of friends. Indeed it was Chris who once accompanied Andrew Jones to Gothier Green Lawns when he wanted to see a ghost. In my game being a townie doesn't mean that you're a wallflower.
I can't finish without mentioning Andrew Jones, my very first Sim. He's been with me since the very beginning of my game and I see him as a close friend. I mention him often in my posts, so if you read them, you must have heard of him. He lives with his mum at 19 Chorus Court opposite the market. As I'm sure you know he's gay, and his steady boyfriend is Julian Moltke, who lives with his mum and dad and his younger brother and sister at 100 Via Veronaville. Julian has been in my game nearly as long as Andrew. He comes from a German family so the "J" in his name is pronounced like and English "Y". Julian and Andrew are quite sure they have found true love in each other. They are friendly with a lot of the other gay crowd, including some of the very promiscuous ones, but secretly believe their own monogamous faithful relationship is much superior. They've been going steady for ages but have never had woohoo because Andrew thinks they should wait till they're older, possibly till they marry. Julian would like to go further but loves Andrew far too much to force the issue.
Well is that enough about my teens from Veronaville? I have tried to include all the teens with a direct connection to Veronaville "proper". i.e. Veronaville pre-made playables and townies, and Sims of any origin who actually live in Veronaville. I've just realised I've missed out the teens who live further along the Via Veronaville. At number 26 there's Ross Moore, who lives with his mum and dad and younger brother Othello. (Guess why I gave him that name!) Ross helps in his dad's shop in Poet Place, and his dad won't let either brother go to school because he says he needs them in the shop. Further along still, just before the Aqueduct, there are Newsons in their tumble down old house at number 2. The Newsons are the newest arrivals in the town and Gavin and Ginger are doing their best to provide a good home for their siblings on the pittance of a wage that Gavin can earn in a house that is totally inadequate. I nearly called them step-siblings, but Ginger objects to the prefix "step-". Blood relatives or not, her commitment to them is absolute. None of these three have any romantic relationships as yet. I think Ross and Ginger could get on well together. They have in common the lack of schooling and the wish to go there. But Ginger rejects all teenage boys as immature, because they haven't been through the hell that she and Gavin have come through. I say thank God for that! I still hope they might get together yet.
There are more teens who have always lived downtown, and since Christmas the Bluewater teens have begun to join the scene too, but I'd go on for ever if included all of them! I hope I haven't missed anyone that I should have included.
With all that going on I cannot understand how people can find Veronaville boring. As one of my Sims said (misquoting Dr. Samuel Johnson I think), "Anyone who's bored with Veronaville is bored with life!"
All Sims are beautiful -- even the ugly ones.
