Nraas master controller - stuck with hyphenated last names
please note that i was not sure where to post this problem at all. i just made this account, hoping someone would know what exactly my problem is (i do have some idea to what the problem might be)

and i was not sure what category this thread belonged to, so i just put it to general. im sorry if i did anything wrong, im new to this

so this is my problem
i have been playing with the nraas master controller for half a year or more now, and i have set anything up exactly as i want it to. i wanted to make a town where... well, where the women were ruling my first step was to make every married persons switch their last name to the womans last name. BUT, for some reason, when i set the options to do this, it wont work properly. i still get hyphenated names.

i go to town options - romance - marriage name to wife, and if theyre same sex, to oldest (sim)
i do the same with town options - immigration (or something like that)

my wild guess is that the person or people who made nraas did not test the wife last name thoroughly, but im not sure. it seems like people using the old fashioned way, with husbands as last name, does not have this problem

any ideas? have i missed anything in the options?

I do not believe MC alone can do what you want. I'm not in game right now and it's been a long time since I set the naming options in my game so don't want to lead you astray but I believe you also need Story Progression and the Population Module to be able to set the names the way you have described. I'm using that with specific caste settings and names can be set to almost anything a player designates. The best place to get the help you need is over at NRaas where the mods live. If someone does not come along in here that can help ... post your question over in Chatterbox.

i will try and look in the general options again, but i have been looking there for a long time trying to find anything that has something to do with their last names without luck. when i look at other posts about hyphenated names, people generally point towards "romance" and "immigration" in town options, no where else

im not sure what the population module is, but i do have story progression enabled all time, and if the population module has anything to do with immigration, the immigration in MC is set to the default i think. i havent messed around with that as far as im sure, except doing rapid immigration and changing immigrated sims appearance and occult, but thats it

i think i might actually have found the solution just right now!

i went into general options like nitromon said, options: lots - options: immigration/emigration - immigrant name - mother

now i have seen about 6 new families in town only with one last name

this looks really promising! i will come back to this forum if i see another hyphenated name, you will know its solved if i dont

I also change the settings in NRAAS Story Progression's immigration (and I think in the romance? part?. I usually set it to random, so I don't really remember if there is a way to set it to the women's name.

In Story Progression -> Town Options, you have two fields that handle names:
- "Romance: Marriage Name" for heterosexual relationships;
- "Romance: Marriage Name: Same-Sex", for homosexual relationships.

Change these to whatever option you want, out of the seven that are provided: Coin-Flip (random), Female-Male, Husband, Male-Female, No Change (sims' names stay the same after marriage), Prompt (allows you to name the sims yourself), Wife.
Of course, for even more customization, you can go to Caste Options and set different values for each caste.

Like barbarat already said I don't think that anything you experience is to do with MasterController. MasterController doesn't do anything on its own. What you mean is a problem with NRaas StoryProgression and as such you should ask this at the NRaas Industries site.
