Default Freeplay vs Sims 4
I know I'm way late to this realization, but why does a mobile game have babies that aren't confined to a crib, toddlers, preteens, etc but sims 4 doesn't? I'm not a fan of freeplay, but it certainly seems like they have more of the things fans have been asking for there. Why is that?

Because the Sims Freeplay theme releases actually make sense and they get what family play is fully. Those sprites too, so adorable.

It's because both games have different revenue estrategies.

The Sims 4: Less content means more opportunities to sell EPs, GPs and SPs.
The Sims Freeplay: More content means more opportunities to sell in-game content, using real money instead of virtual money. Example: You can buy a lovely chair for $1 (in real money), or you can get for "free" after spending almost 1 week completing in-game tasks.

Yeah, you know I get this, but then why are they not cranking out the packs for TS4? Development has been as slow as molasses.

I also get how all the content they cranked out for TS3 ended up overburdening the game and for some people, even made it unplayable. I could believe that they're in this for the long haul this time and want to drag TS4 out until the end of time or something. But I just can't see how that's supposed to make them any money if the model is based on selling more and more add on packs.

I think the team must be spread out working on various projects or something. It seems like another possibility is that since they re-purposed this game from an entirely different model, they can't get things to work like they should work for a single player game and that's slowing their development schedule considerably. Something just isn't right here, but we'll probably never know exactly what it is.

I think you are totally right that they set this up for something else originally and now are paying the price for it. I have played 4 a total of 500 hours. I played 3 almost every day. I went back to CAW for 3 this morning and worked on a house. I think the crowd is restless and they will be losing even more players if they do not step up their game pretty soon. Todays BIG, ROFL, announcement sure will not do it, IMO.
