Default Changing skin tones of some PTs in a multi-PT set
I apologize for placing this here, but I'm not sure where to put it under the Creation section.

I have been using a multi-PT set for some time, and I'm happy with what I've got in my current game - all the PTs use the same default alien skin. However, I've got a couple of ideas for future 'hoods and in both of them I know I want to use multiple skins for the aliens. I've found a set of PTs I like with a variety of skins, but it uses 8 skins where I'd rather have only 4 custom skins added to my game. All of the tutorials I've found on changing the genetics are for editing instances of the PTs already in the game - I want to edit the package files before placing them into a new 'hood.

Is the following the correct way to go about doing this?
1. Open the custom skin tone that I want to use in SimPE and look at the Skin Tone XML; go to the line family and copy the value of the string.
2. Open the package of the PT I want to edit, and replace all strings refering to the game's alien skin with the value copied in step 1, committing the changes as I go. I think there are 3 resources I'd need to change:
a) Age Data (AGED)- change the value of the line skincolor
b) Material Definition (TMXT) - change the value of cafSkinTone
c) Property Set (GZPS) - change the value of skintone

Am I missing anything or doing this the wrong way?
Thank you

probably backup the originals before testing.

That's correct - editing the PT before installing it into a neighbourhood is no different from editing it afterwards.

What I lack in decorum, I make up for with an absence of tact.

Thank you. I wasn't having any luck finding a list of the resources that needed editing and so I was worried I was missing something; the tutorial I had found stopped at editing the Sim DNA (probably because we don't actually see the PT).

As for backing up - I will. I never conduct experiments on my only copy of a file and I love having archives of originals to fall back on when my experiments fail.
