Default (Solved!) WCIF Mouth mod (asking for further help please)
This is hard to explain! I remember seeing a mod awhile ago that filled the 'holes' in a sim's mouth. I thought it was on MTS but can't find it now. When sims are talking you can see 'light' or white spots, or something shining through their mouth sometimes. I've especially noticed it in children. If you know what I'm talking about and know where it is I would appreciate a link. The searches I've done have turned up all kinds of weird things but not the mod I want.

This Overlay Fix by Moonskin1993 might be what you're looking for?

The Overlay Fix by Moonskin1993 is what I am looking for, however, the download is two DDS files, one for toddlers and one for children. Can anyone point me to a tutorial on converting a DDS image file to a default package file so that these white spots won't appear in children's mouths anymore? Or has anyone else already converted this?

If you're using any kind of default eye that alters the eye whites, default teeth, "no eyelash" mod or any default replacement that touches the face overlay file, you'll actually need to combine Moonskin's fix with it. This is because these types of default replacements all alter the same file. This fix is included in the defaults Moonskin previously shared. In the linked post, she shared the .dds files separately for those who would like to combine the fix with their existing defaults.

Spoonsthings wrote a tutorial about that customizing that file here .

What is this white mouth thing? I don't think I've ever noticed it before?

ameena.n.y The link is broken for the download for the actual mod. The only download that works is the link to the dds files. Thanks for that tutorial. If I can find the actual mod I'll use that because I have a set of default eyes from BrntWaffles that I really love!

I haven't been able to find a new link to the mod. Does anyone have it?

murfee, when children talk there are white spots in there mouth. It's very annoying. If you look at 1:33 timestamp in my video here you'll see what it is I'm talking about:

Yep, that's my blog. Thank you very much, ZeeGee!

I think Moonskin may have shuffled things around on her Wix website - I didn't catch that earlier! I believe you may have to register to view certain pages, but I'm not entirely certain.
The Mirrors Eyes still appear to be available. However, you won't be able to use both Moonskin's DR Mirrors Eyes and Brntwaffles' DR Eyes "out of the box", as they conflict with each other. The file that contains the sclerae also contains the mouth fixes, which is why I forwarded that tutorial. Send me a PM if you have trouble!

If you take a look at the face overlay for toddlers (and children), you'll see that EA did not line up the textures OR alpha with the actual UV layout for the inside of a toddler's mouth. Both texture islands are misaligned:

So, during certain animations where the inside of a toddler's mouth is more visible, like in your video, you'll see parts of the skin texture poking through instead. Moonskin fixed this by extending her mouth textures to properly fit the actual UV map. You can also do this yourself by shifting around the texture and UV on your own set of defaults. To my knowledge, most other default eye replacements have followed EA's format, so they have the same texture bug. TBH, I didn't realize this myself until recently, since I rarely play with toddlers or children.

I guess another approach to fixing this would be to redo the facial UV mapping for toddlers and children to match the other ages, but that's a bit more involved, since altering a UV requires one to replace the mesh.

ameena.n.y Thanks so much for your help! I've downloaded Moonskin's defaults and going to try them out in game. If I don't like them I'll try your suggestion.

Edit: Love those eyes! They're gorgeous even in light colors. So I'm switching out my defaults. Thanks again! <3
