Since my old one is now outdated, yet new simmers are still using it everyday, (not to brag ) Here's a new revised guide with much more options than the last one.

STOP! BEFORE YOU GO ON A CC SPREE, READ THIS FIRST.
I'm now going to use a ranking system for my options:

Light - New to the game, yet need just some cc to spice things up a little? Pick this.

Medium - Got everything that Light has, but still yearn for more and confident your computer can handle it? Pick this.

Heavy - Okay, you really really want MOAR, and your sure your computer is as powerful as JARVIS itself. Pick this.

BTW, don't let my weird ranking system stop you; mix and match light, medium, heavy to fit your needs

Okay, let's get right to the CC!

Default Skin and Eyes:

Light: Tamo's Ultra Plain Eyes and Faces. They're nice subtle replacements. Alternatively, Hysterical Paroxysm's Custard is great, although they only work for teens thorugh elders, and no one has yet made proper conversions.

Medium / Heavy: Before you download any eyes, get mahamudo's fix for #AWT's default eye mesh d and Buckley's conversion of THAT for toddlers and kids. They make the sim's eyes NOT look like they're stoned. A great starter skin and eyes is Apple Cider Vinegar v2 and Brntwaffles Sarhra Eyes v2. They give your sims a nice matte look. But these aren't the only MM skins, oh no, there's tons more. I'll just list the creators so you can look around (Warning: some of these creators are dead and have moved on to TS4, but their stuff is still up for grabs.)

• Kubasoberina
• Brntwaffles (they do skins and have more eyes too, but scroll down because their most recent stuff is for TS4)
• Pxydiis
• Joedy
• and finally, Simarex

Hair:

Light - EA Hairs are mostly fine, since they don't really look dated and can be customized af with Create A Style.

Medium - Store hairs are great for Medium! I recommend Buckley's Disentangled (part one; part two) for females, for men editsim's 70 retextured store hairs are great (There is virtually no difference between the textures in my eyes.) But if you really want everything to match, just buy the store hairs themselves (legally or illegally, your prerogative.)

Heavy - Depends on the kind of texture you want. ChazyBazzy is great for hardcore MM lovers, since they have GIGABYTES of hair and doesn't have that annoying shine most people have. (If you love their stuff, go buy them a KoFi!) If you don't like their texture, Pandelabs is a great second, and can fit really nicely with both Alpha and MM Styles. If you want more shine but still kinda maxis match, Plumbblobs is a queen. Literally they have like 3000 hairs according to their catalog LOL. Additionally, I have some old, dead creators (though not IRL don't worry LOL) :

• Nixels
• Beaverhausen (previews are broken, just search an image for the hair in question)
• Editsim
• Fanaskher (scroll down again for TS3)
• simsxolove (hairs for kids, scroll down)

Clothes:

Light - The Everyday Clothes Set is awesome for hip millenial sims. (but you have to pay for it since it's a store set) Alternatively, the clothes from Showtime and University life also work well.

Medium - More Store sets. I recommend Date Night, Fifth Avenue Fashions Jet Set , etc. (Look around!)

Heavy - There's so many so i'll just list some:

• Anubis
• jockersims
• shokoninio
• peacemaker-ig
• Hellfrozeover / ice-cream-for-breakfast (they're the same person)
• Simplex-Sims (Teens and Elders)
• Kent-Converts (teens and elders)

Makeup:

Light - The Vanilla makeup is good enough if you play around with the opacity and the colors.

Medium / Heavy - There's no competition. S-Club's 3D Eyelashes are a MUST. (scroll down for working link) Additionally, her makeup is also great! Pralinesims makeup is also pretty!

Honorable Mentions:

(BTW, this isn't really necessary, since pudding face doesn't need sliders to look good.)
Sliders: For Light, Jonha's sliders are great. (except the Head Size slider, new townies will look super spooky with it, but that's just my opinion xD) Additionally, Ahmad's Sliders. If you want M O R E, check out Brntwaffles Sliders Folder (handy) or Shock & Shame's Masterlist


Lighting Mod - For Light, Outdoor Lighting Tweaks Seriously. A little heavier is Brntwaffles Lighting Mods (scroll down again) Look around! Pick one you like.

Misc Defaults - If you hate some of the default stuff,SimpleLife's Defaults will probably be a lifesaver. Check them out!

I'm surprised that you didn't include Maxis Match decor/clutter CC in this list--although I'm sure you're going to get around to it eventually. I find Mutske from T$R has very nice build objects that are--if not totally Maxis Match--close enough for jazz. And, of course, ATS3.

Mutske has a lot of great content! I've also downloaded pretty much every build item missyzim has made, though you do need to have the EPs for the content that's based on something from them (like add-ons to a particular window).

@windermeresimblr tbh, i don't really think clutter can be classified as alpha. but I don't use clutter that much so idk

Do you know of any Maxis Match hairs that aren't too high poly? I think I checked a few of Chazzy's hairs and while they're great, they're also 4 or 5 times the polycount of an EA hair so they kind of stand out.

Thanks! For some reason, despite the other hairs also being Maxis Match, I find that they still stand out a little too much for my taste lol.

@redandvidya Clutter is what keeps the world together and makes it real. It's the difference between "furnished" and "lived in".

These are a very Maxis Match skinblend. Very soft, not much detail.
Trees (1024x1024) skinblend (towards bottom of page)
SATELLITES (2048x2048) an updated version of Trees. (Collar bones are softer, there is some small detail differences to face. The non default & default toddler scalp is broken, the only way to fix it is do a new non default/default version using the Skininator)
Also SHOOTING STARS an alien skin blend.

I second brntwaffles eyes. Some of the eyes are more maxis match than others The Sarhra eyes (there are 5 versions). the Charlotte eyes (3 different version), Yumedust Eye Love set (2 different versions).
Simlicious has some default eyes & teeth that would work well.

I think it's because no one knows anymore links^^ at some point there are no more EA objects/clothes in the game, which you can use to make matching cc^^ all good-quality hairs and cas things are listed in the first and 9th post and as sweetdevil mentioned (3rd post) on tsr3 are a lot of maxis matching objects - especially windows and doors, or in general build-mode-objects. Here on MTS are some really good buy-mode-matches. You just have to type in a searching-word in the download section and after some looking around you will find some EA matches (:

I'm quite surprised nobody mentioned Sentate for clothing, and Swirlgoodies for the hair.
