This user has the following games installed:

Sims 3, World Adventures, Ambitions
Default "Service Initialization Failed (0x065d0274)" comes up when trying to download cc...
When I try & install .sims3pack CC "Service Initialization Failed (0x065d0274)" comes up & will not allow me to install...it has been occurring since I updated to the 1.7 patch...is there anything I can do to fix this & be able to install CC?

Thank you so much!

- Annie

p.s. I do not have WA.

In order to better solve your problem, please go through the following as listed below:
  • Sims 3 - Uninstall
This Game_Help:TS3_Uninstallwiki link has the step-by-step instructions to guide you through uninstalling The Sims 3.

*If you get a Service Initialization Error message (good indicator the Registry is messed up), last resort is to uninstall, edit the registry ( as per the above guide) and then reinstall.

On occasion you might be asked to do a long FAQ - please make sure you do all the steps and don't just skip over them. You'll often find that these long FAQs have all the details you need. If nothing in the above FAQs fixes your problem you may post again detailing exactly which you have done and which steps failed.

i tried uninstalling & then installing again....& there there did not seem to be directions for how to fix the registry on a Mac....so I'm not really where to go from here....? I tried to install CC just to try & the message came up again.

(Moving to Mac Help, for more visibility to players on Mac)

There is no registry on a Mac, I think.

Anyway try:

Make sure you perform a complete uninstall before reinstalling. Delete the game folder, delete the user files (or move/rename them, if you want a backup), and delete the game preferences (Users/User/Library/Preferences/The Sims 3 Preferences).

Uhm, didn't see the patch edition which is the only clue that this was a Mac. Thanks for moving the thread Ella.

I'm worried that my latest Salvation Army donation will result in homeless people looking like sluts from the 90s.

If I could bring your attention to this thread: http://www.modthesims.info/showthread.php?t=379767

It worked for me and saved the hassle of reinstalling the entire game.

GAH.

I was following the advice of this thread, and others I had found, by completely reinstalling.

But I forgot to delete the preferences.

After an hour of fiddling around...

Make sure, if you are reinstalling, DELETE EVERYTHING.
