In case anyone was worried this mod would make dates too hard (tbh I thought I might have to tune it to be a bit more forgiving for my own preferences), I just completed a date with this mod and I'm happy to report that it's actually not too hard. I used a 1LB premade married couple, even though I do not like 1LB couples as it's difficult to get them to want anything to do with each other ("check sim out" doesn't reroll wants; they just shrug). It was noticeably harder to raise the date meter, but in the end I managed to max the date out without too much trouble. I probably still could have made them stand on the edge of the lot interacting with each other and ignoring the rest of the world the whole time if I'd really wanted to; that probably still could have worked, as fulfilling "play with," "kiss," and "tell a joke" wants still all did contribute to the date score, but I appreciated the added motivation to make them behave like people on an actual date. My sims made out twice (once on a couch, once standing) but did not woohoo as there were no valid woohoo locations on the lot. One thing I noticed was that even though neither of them ordered coffee, tipping the barista still added a little boost to the date meter (one of the sims was Fortune aspiration, but only as her secondary, so I'm not sure if that was a consideration). They were just brand new never before played sims and after that one date they both now have over 30k aspiration points.

I will do more testing with other couples and in other settings (and also try outings), but I think it's safe to say that the default version of this mod does not in fact make dates "too hard" at all.

Edit: Reporting back after further testing. I must say I am very pleased with this mod! I had a brand new playable sim go on a date with a 1LB sim she'd just met. To be fair I'm not sure I've actually ever tried a date with a 1LB stranger before (I usually only attempt romantic interactions with 2LB or above), but wow was that ever a different experience! Managed to earn the second ever love letter I've ever gotten in TS2 and also managed to avoid a dream date while actually actively trying to raise the date score and without the date ending early due to someone needing to go to work or whatever. I also in my testing saw "rejected for make out" happen for the first time. I've been playing this game for over a decade and never did manage that one before! I also tried an outing and honestly found it quite easy to push the meter all the way to the top. I didn't really notice any change from an unmodded outing.

Some observations (most of this applies even without the mod, but it's much more important with the mod):
-Dates are easier when you control both sims
-Dates are easier with 2LB or better yet 3LB chemistry.
-Dates are easier when sims already have high LTR. Dates between total strangers are much harder (as they should be!!).
-Tipping NPCs has proved so far to be consistent way to get a bit of date score, though I'm unsure if the amount tipped matters. Info I dug up on Google (here) suggests that Nice Fortune sim dates will be more impressed than the average sim by your sim tipping, while Mean Knowledge sims won't be impressed at all.

Ok but having to pay to date someone sounds pretty creepy tbh (I have of course not installed that one.) What is even the logic of a date costing money? I'm just trying to understand this one. I assume the money does not go to the other sim but simply gets eaten by "the ether." (If it did go to the other sim, that would be prostitution, and there are other mods for that...) So is it meant to be a "tax" on dating? Some evil government trying to discourage people from enjoying time together, even in the comfort of their own homes? Who gets this money? How do they even know two sims are attempting a date? Who is regulating all of this?

Thanks so much for your detailed report! I was, in fact, worried that this mod would making dating too hard, and I'm pleased to hear how it works in practice. Thanks for checking it out and reporting back.

I've made some mods for The Sims 1 -- yes, The Sims ONE :-) -- which you can find at http://corylea.com/Sims1ModsByCorylea.html

In the real world, if you take someone out for the classic date of dinner and a movie, the dinner costs money and so does the movie. Even if it's just pizza, rather than dinner in a nice restaurant, dinner would cost at least $15, and movies are $10 per person or so. So pizza and a movie would cost $35, and dinner in a nice restaurant, or going out for a drink after the movie would add even more to the cost.

Well, sure, but this "dates cost money" mod as I understand it affects all dates, even ones where the sims never leave their home lot, or ones where they simply walk to the park and hang out for a bit. I'm all for making things in the game cost money! Dining out in this game costs money. Having a drink at a bar or buying an espresso cost money. Heck, even ordering piazza or Chinese food costs money. The only thing you mentioned that the game doesn't already charge for is going to a movie, and it wouldn't be too difficult to set up an OFB business lot with a ticket machine and some TVs in order to do just that. I just really do not see the logic of an imposed general tax on "asking someone on a date." Maybe that sort of thing works for you, in which case the mod is probably a great idea for you. Just doesn't work for me. As I said, I'm all for making things more expensive; I just want it to make sense. I was just wondering last night if it's possible to make drinks from bars more expensive as irl those things are very pricey!

I needed version which only fixes problem with "Ask On a Date" want satisfaction. Following the instructions in description I was able to remove paying feature from "Dates Cost Money". Now it contains only fix.
I attached the fix to this comment in case someone else is looking for it but feels insecure around SimPE.
I play-tested it in various ways and haven't met any issues.
Kudos to simler90 for the original mod and @simler90 feel free to upload it on official site of your mod, as it is obviously more your work than mine.

"This mod makes it so that sims need to pay 100 simoleons to be able to successfully ask sims on date. If you have less than that, the interaction fails."

Thank you. Maybe I'll switch them around if I every make a prostitute Sim. I probably won't. Maybe. I kind of want to now, but that's illegal!

It's not, it just sounded funny.
