I had been playing on epic sim lifespan for some time now and decided that the generation age lengths didn't make sense, and felt too long for annoying generations like baby and toddler. I simply altered the generation age lengths for a more realistic feel, and then decided to do a version that focuses on the more playable stages as well. Both versions are included, but please only use ONE at a time. The mod should work with any age span short through epic. This is my first modification for The Sims 3, so let me know if you run into any bugs.
This is just a simple table of the old and new age lengths, for both realistic and extended fun ages.
The result represents normal 90 day life span and the epic 960 day life span. Also check out the available open office spreadsheet for both versions. It is more informative and has all spans listed.
Normal/Epic
--------Original----Realistic----Extended----
Baby----3 / 32-----2 / 21-------2 / 16------
Toddler--7 / 75-----3 / 32-------2 / 21-----
Child-----7 / 75-----7 / 75------14 / 150---
Teen----14 / 149 ---7 / 75------14 / 150---
Y.Adult--21 / 224 --11 / 117-----23 / 246---
Adult----21 / 224---30 / 320----35 / 375----
Elder----17 / 181 ---5 / 54-------0 / 0-------
Elder age lengths are a minimum, and they simply have a chance to die each day after that minimum is reached.
Short - 40%
Medium - 30%
Normal - 20%
Long - 10%
Epic - 5%
*Yes, the realistic mod can possibly shorten sim life spans, because most people don't live to be 90 years old.
**If you don't like this, use the extended mod, I do . I originally set out for a realistic mod though, so I keep it around.
Other than the age length and chances for elders to die, no other files within the XML were changed. This means other age mods might be compatible if they do not alter these values, and they don't include them.
If people would like to see a different multiplier applied, or want a different part of this particular XML modified, let me know.

Thanks to rmrm and his Shorter Toddler Stage mod, the start of my inspiration. http://modthesims.info/download.php?t=393481
Thanks to StaticDrifter for the request for a realistic age mod. I thought about using the multipliers you specified but they were applied against total days, and the game does it differently.
Thanks to all the posters on my comment board who requested different age lengths. I took all of them into consideration in making my new variants.
Thanks to anyone who tries this out and the staff at modthesims for hosting.

About Me
I am working on making a modest game under Windows 7 with C++ and OpenGL, as such, I may not always have time to respond to mod requests :).
