) I haven't heard of anyone having problems. You definitely cannot run the game in compatibility mode, though. Doing so will disable the patch so, no, it won't "stick." So far as I've seen, it's a common problem with people trying to use the patch because running the game in a compatibility mode is one of the recommended things to do help with game crashing. But you can't use the patch AND compatibility mode. They are mutually exclusive. It's one or the other, and generally speaking, making the game Large-Address Aware (meaning, making it capable of using 4GB of memory) will help with crashing a LOT more than running in compatibility mode will.
