about recoloring mailbox and community's trashcan; I found out shortly after getting Nightlife.
residential's trashcan can also be recolored. yet apartment's mailbox is not yet recolorable.

residential's mailbox; recoloring is through CEP. also residential's trashcan; and base game's Buy Mode trashcans.
community's trashcan; recoloring is a shipped version feature.

I only found out about recolouring the mailbox after I got Mansion & Garden, which was about 2 years ago. After that, it didn't take much to learn that the community trashcan also had recolours. And after downloading some custom recolours, I know recolour the trashcan and the public phone all the time. The residential mailbox and trashcan, though, are harder to recolour while not making it seem out of place, so I recolour them only sparsely.
But it is a nice little feature.

Well, thanks to this thread, I've discovered I have some random CC that removes my ability to have mailbox recolors. I'd tried in the past and not gotten any options, but just tried in my test hood without my downloads folder in, and of course they're all there.

So that's terrific. I do have the community lot trashcan recolors, though.

The mailbox recolouring came with M&G stuff.

Most likely a mailbox replacement or buyable mailbox.

Completely random memory, but I remember when I was watching a first-look into Bon Voyage on youtube. The girl that was doing the voiceover said "bla bla, you can have your Sim make an offering," and then had her Sim do it, following, "and you can even add soap to it, buuuut I wouldn't recommend doing that." The clip ended there and then it switched to something completely different, like the pirate ship or something.

Of course, adding soap to the monkey temple was the first thing I did in BV.

Also... this is more of a S/RQ than a discovery. What happens when a Sim does make an offering, alongside getting a vacation memento?

I have the same problem but I can't find the files in my download folder so I can remove them. If you find them, would youmind telling me how they are called in your game?

I did not really discover something today but rather realized that all the cheats make total sense in English. If English is your native language that is probably not very surprising but, as I mentioned in another thread, I started playing sims back in elementary school. Back then - and often still today - it was normal for children to start learning English only in third grade and then it is mostly the basics and focussed on speaking. Now, about 15 years later and studying English at university, I finally realized that the cheats are not complete nonsense but simply English. Well, I will still keep my German pronunciation of "maxmotives" instead of the real one when relating to the game.

As far as I can tell, getting a vacation memento seems to be the only result of making an offering of money.

To make this post sort of on topic: My Sims 2 game is still too dark to play, so I've been playing Sims 3. I've been playing a Supernatural EP vampire, and discovered how much of a pain in the butt it is to keep them fed. He has to "raid" the grocery store to get plasma fruit, and last night he got arrested for raiding the store. He lost job performance for being in jail instead of at work, and will lose his job if he misses work again.

The "squiggly thought-lines" for corruption in speech bubbles... ...aren't lines (mostly).

If I squint at the example in LiliLiliLili's post #49 in the "Biggest Mistakes" thread, I see random dark grey letters in a squashed font, and two red cross lines. It looked vaguely familiar... ...just like a small section of the crossed-out writing that appears when a texture fails to load on an accessory mesh or vice versa* (a piece that is, perhaps, towards the left-hand side of the particular cross-out image that I believe gets used to generate this type of error overlay. It may even be that different bits of corrupted file produce different sections of crossed-out text, but please don't deliberately set out to test this.

* - I can't remember which way round it is, but it's the opposite to the situation that generates blue accessories.

Sometimes - VERY rarely - the monkey god will show its appreciation by placing a gift in your inventory. On the rare occasions where this has happened to one of my sims, the "gift" is some cheap BV deco sculpture like the toucan or the rearing horse.

If a jungle deity is going to give me a gift like that, shouldn't it be something a bit more valuable? If I get a huge expensive wall TV or computer nearly every time I chat with some total stranger in AL, surely this VERY RARE "gift from the gods" should be more than just a cheap vacation souvenir!

That's not the dreaded "squiggly lines" thought bubble. That sim appears to be thinking about some object - as you said possibly a texture failure. The dreaded "squiggly lines" thought bubble looks like the ones in the following images and is actually the game trying to render several icons in the same thought bubble.

I did not know that this computer has red stripes on the case.

And it seems to me that the keyboard has English letters, not simlish.

In that case, we have meta-learning "What did I discover today while reading the "What did you discover today while playing The Sims? v2" thread" - because I didn't know that there was an alternate version, or what the "real" corruption thought bubble was meant to be, either. Thank you very much, RoxEllen!

File name is SEDD_ALmailbox. Buyable mailbox. It's compatible with AL, but not the M&G recolors.

Even the dreaded squiggly lines don't have to be corruption though, they can be a sign of invisible objects blocking a Sim's path or a Sim is trapped in their current location (most likely by invisible objects)

Thank you but by now I found the one file I was missing thanks to the Download organizer which I had totally forgotten existed. Now I can finally use the wooden recolor again I was really missing.

I discovered that when the characters dance a classical dance, one partner can step on the feet of another partner so much that the another partner jumps off and will cling to the leg. It looks cute.

It depends on the hidden dance skill of the sim that initiated the dance. If dance skill is too low, they'll step on their dance partner's toes. Slow dancing works the same way. I think stepping on their partner's toes can lower the score if they're on a date.

How darn beautiful this game can be if you have lighting mod installed:

And it even works trough the windows, doors and arches to the outside AND the inside. I've been using it for a long, long time, and only now I notice this wonderful detail!

That apparently my sim can breastfeed . I think one of the mods I have prompted that because I had Free Will on and the next thing I knew there was a blur around her and the baby sim and she did it for 2 sim hours before I canceled the action . I have to figure out how to do that again because I couldn't find it when I clicked on her. I wish I took a picture though!
