If you use sethour and then pause time with the freezer clock, it kind of goes crazy.

Has this always been in Desiderata Valley?! I only discovered it today as I was decorating the hood a bit...

This clock is one of my favourite jokes in Sims 2. In Sims 1, your sim had to maintain the grandfather clock or else it wouldn't work. So when Sims 2 arrived, I had Loki Beaker maintain the grandfather clock... and it exploded! Maxis booby trapped me! It still makes me laugh.

Because I've never had it used in the game, I'll be looking forward to it exploding! Such useful information!

I rarely use it because of the aforementioned exploding. Does it explode on the repairman too?

PregRel will trigger even if the father of a baby is the wrong species. (I was tampering with pregnancy tokens in a test hood to see what would happen to the DNA.)

The baby just turned out to be an opposite-sex clone:

The (Fandom) Sims Wiki says that the repairman won't maintain the grandfather clock, and neither will a visitor that you influence to "Repair". It also says that, if broken beyond repair, "the clock will collapse into wreckage". That sounds a bit safer than "explode"! "Explode" sounds it might be dangerous to the would-be repairer!

There aren't many grandfather clocks in my game; most of the ones there are are in the houses of the better off pre-mades. The §3,500 price tag puts it well beyond the financial reach of most of my Sims. For the most part, if my Sims decide they want a timepiece, they go for the §30 "Get Up" alarm clock.

Until today, I never even noticed that there was a "Maintain" option. "Collapse into wreckage" does sound a little better than "explode", but I don't think it will be much consolation when you've saved up for five years to buy the clock. As always,I empathise with my Sims!

Interestingly, Sarah Crittur's puppies failed to show Gordon King on the family tree. But when I grew them up, they looked like Sarah Crittur except for floppy ears, which indicates they got some DNA from him:

@Bulbizarre

In the first picture in post #10558 above I really can't work out why he's mad at her.

Mind you, when I met up with Andrew recently, he was mad at David Cornton for some reason, and I have no idea what that was about. I doubt if even Andrew knows. He and David used to be best friends too.

PregRel. I also use kestrellyn's patch.

Quote:
Chris Hatch made a hack called PregRel, which causes sims to react negatively to a significant other's first pregnancy bump if it indicates cheating and they pass a logic check (3+ logic to tell that it was cheating, 7+ logic to identify the person they cheated with and get mad at them also), or for any pregnancy if the sims are parents of a pregnant teen sim. The pregnant sim would then do a worry interaction if the pregnancy is from cheating, regardless of whether or not any other sims reacted.

I used Sim Manipulator to impregnate then edited the token to set Danny Crittur as the father. Since Sanjay and Priya had not woohooed, he thought she'd been cheating and got mad. Interestingly, he's also supposed to get furious and lose relationship at the real father (Pollination Technicians sometimes get into relationship panels this way, but the patch fixes this) - this didn't happen, I don't know if it specifically checks for a human Sim or what.

Yeah! I suppose some people might get mad if they found out that their significant other was into bestiality.

Thanks!

I put in a clean Pleasantview so I could practice remodeling some of the premade houses, and I discovered that if you sell one painting in the Dreamer house, it's enough to pay all of Darren's back bills. Now I know I've been playing the game for years and never thought of that before, but still, it does seem like an absurdly simple solution to his problem.

ETA I mean that painting of the fruit bowl that is hanging in his studio.

I took out the Mrs. Crumplebottom block mod to put her back in the game and realized she kept tormenting my sims with no way they can fight back. Talk about unfair.
So I put the mod back in to put the genie back in the bottle and seal her away once again.

Add a poker table to the lot. That keeps her distracted.

Catnip toys can get destroy. When that happens, the only pie menu option is 'clean up.'

@jonasn Instant Inviter has an option to summon the social worker, who then takes away any children. Might be useful for story purposes, if you're using a mod that limits the social workers (tested and it works with booth Pescado's and BO's) or just don't want to deliberately starve the kids.

Also, if the social worker errors when trying to pick up a baby (more specifically, an adult changed to a baby with SimPE) and you reset she just gets indefinitely stuck. Cancel a few times and the adult-baby will just get teleported away.

Also, trying to adopt an adult-baby throws an error.

Yes, I added it to create an unfortunate "event," because I play without an all-seeing social worker normally. She comes in evil mode, not for adoption.

If you don't have a communal area for apartment neighbors, they will stay outside of their apartments all day unless they have work or it's nighttime. They will either greet with gestures endlessly, play kickybag endlessly, fight with other neighbors endlessly, prank with water-balloons endlessly or get sunburn/frozen. At least that's what seems to happen to me in my apartments with no communal area :P

^ My apartment neighbors (in the sims, not rl) tend to hog the hot tub if there's one, pick fight with each other, and play in the playground until they get sunburned. Sometimes I'd put TV in the communal area but they rarely use it.

(Sorry for my bad grammar; English isn't my first language.)

If you put artwork (or "artwork" in the case of decorative elements that still have the 'View' option enabled) in public spaces, they'll also constantly go back to them to up their fun. I had neighbors who would periodically go to admire and laugh at the electric meters out back. Truly, the height of entertainment.

I also learned the hard way what happens if you don't make any communal area in an apartment lot. Neighbors will constantly come out of their unit and stand around doing nothing until they pee themselves or pass out, pick fights with the landlord and any visiting service sims in the morning, harass walk-bys, get sprayed by the skunk, etc.

That's why it's important for me to mod out bad actions that can ruin a perfectly good neighborhood so that kind of stuff never happens.
