Thalia now has a resident psychiatrist!

Since his colleague Dr. Freud was occupied elsewhere, Dr. Sidney Freedman is the newest resident and shrink at large.

The women of Thalia are all excited because the doctor is single. Already he's made quite the impression on a few.

Hm, doesn't look much like Dr. Freedman - no, wait, the guy on MASH was Stanley Freedman? Hang on, I'll go look it up...No, it was Sidney! Maybe he's more recognizable from closer up. Or maybe the name is coincidence and this is a completely different psychiatrist named Sidney Freedman.

Eden's Land keeps having mechanical problems that create story problems. Poor Freya Tite got a guitar stuck to her that prevented her from interacting with her baby. Everything else she could work around, but she couldn't so much as pick the baby up, much less feed it. And this could have been disastrous, because she and her husband Abel are in a starter home with a root cellar fridge, from which it is impossible to get baby bottles. Babies have to be breastfed and toddlers have to eat from a high chair. I had to delete her with move objects, whereupon after an anxious period of lagging she came back onto the lot, went straight to the baby, and fed him; but she didn't become selectable again till after I saved and closed the lot.

Ugly is in the heart of the beholder.

It is the one and only Dr. Sidney Freedman, from the show, and while I don't have any short curly male hairs, it's about as close as I can get to the character. He hangs out on community lots, talking to the residents-he's very friendly, talkative and is known to indulge in games such as chess and darts. (although I'm sure he'll be playing poker at the local bar-he could never stay away from the weekly poker game at the MASH.)

I considered giving him an office, but figured he's a free-spirit who can't be tied down to one place.

He has a mustache, and black hair, much like the man who played him, Allan Arbus-who when asked to become a regular on the show, declined and stayed a returning character.

His most famous (and my favorite) saying is, of course, this immortal ditty:

"Ladies and gents
Take my advice,
Pull down your pants
and slide on the ice."

A very wise man!

Fannie Schmeller met a nice man.

He moved into her shack with her and brought a nice tidy sum, so they added some rooms.

He is really something special!

Oh, and Karen stole a gnome.

Thanks, I stole the glass roof idea from Criquette who used it a lot in many different style houses in Feverfew, using their own conservatory set pieces. So full credit to them! I used the in-game greenhouse roof for this one though. The lot looked like this before it was extended:

SimSample, Your town must be the next one over from Thalia-seeing how they're both in the desert!

In that case, howdy, neighbor!

However, you must take care-the desert gets very hot in the summer and air conditioning is a must!

I took a little break from the game and all things related, but over the holidays, I've been renovating the Downtown lots more to my taste for the very first time. It hasn't taken me as long as I thought, but I haven't gone too crazy. Mostly I'm eliminating annoyances (fountains, dartboards) and giving each location a specific theme and purpose. For instance, only one bowling alley. The other two have been turned into a roller disco and a teen hangout. There are also fewer photobooths around, because my Sims were constantly misusing them. Instead, there are now a couple of nightclubs that have the reputation as places you can go if you want to be a little naughty. I think the place that got the biggest makeover was Bernard's Botanical Garden, which got turned into the Zen Botanical Gardens, with the restaurant removed entirely and the whole place converted into a park. I also bulldozed the Museum of Modern Art altogether and replaced it with a library. And the Comandgo Emporium was turned into a senior center with bingo and mahjong. And I really like the new Lulu Lounge, which I turned into a chill piano bar.

So the question is now how should I play my new Downtown? I would like to start it with some young adults who move Downtown after graduation. Should I add Academie La Tour and just use the premade students? Or should I send some of the Downtownie teens to college to start? I like the second idea a little better, but I know quite a few of them are half-siblings, and I'm not sure I want to deal with the familial entanglements that will bring. Any ideas are welcome.

New family moved into Plot of Land - Carranza. Carranza as you can guess has Spanish and Italian ties, and the head of the family, Antonio, is very well suited for his line of work - Flipping stolen cars for a profit. He's a wise guy you see, and in the line of work for wise guys you can never be careful enough. However, the Cortez neighbor next door has her suspicions.

Previously known as HarVee. Just call me Yin from now on.

Mr Silke almost froze to death today. If you have ever seen an accident-prone sim...

If his 9 children were not keeping my busy, I may have seen him earlier. Fortunately, he is fine and seemed to enjoy all the hot chocolate he drank.

I decided to add Downtown to my current Pleasantview and put my made-over Downtown lots there, which got me back into playing Pleasantview after an extended hiatus. Dina invited literally everyone Downtown and has had affairs or attempted to with Don, John Burb, Dustin Broke, Alexander Goth (rejected), and [gagging noises] Toby Bruenig. The lots work well. They seem to cause fewer routing errors and there is more socializing with just a few focused things to do on each lot. Dudley Caliente (Dina + Don's son) had a nice date at Speedy's Arcade and Eats with a Downtownie boy he just met and got his first kiss, so I'm happy for him. Also Dirk Dreamer and Jennifer Burb got caught flirting by Lilith (Downtown is dangerous for cheaters!).

The main drama in Pleasantview right now is that Nina Caliente died in a fire before I took my hiatus, so now Don has had to adopt their daughter together and bring her into his house with Cassandra. Already living there are Cassandra and Don's teen daughter, Cadence, and Cassandra's son, Cody, who Don thinks is his son but who is actually Daniel Pleasant's son. A while back, Cassandra got abducted by aliens and changed her aspiration to Romance like her mother, as well as suffering a complete personality change (so now Don thinks she is extremely hot and can't keep his mitts off her). Although she's still mostly a good mom, she occasionally has to have a wild night to scratch that itch -- always a fling, never an affair -- and Cody was the result of one of these. He is now halfway through his childhood. Daniel never met him because he was killed in a mysterious fire in the middle of the night soon after Cody was born, and as far as I can tell, no one has ever suspected Mary-Sue of the crime. Mary-Sue is now a mayoral candidate and leading in the polls.

In all my years of playing TS2, I finally witnessed someone having nightmares in their sleep, and of course it had to be young Nervous Subject. Since he was informally adopted by Vicki Sims, I have him sleep on the couch most of the time. Pair that with his high active and low neat personality, yeah, he doesn't sleep too well.

In Eden's Land, the Trickster family is matrilineal. So when Crow Trickster, a lesbian, inherited her mother Coyote's household, it was a good thing she had her little sister Bunting to act as heir and become responsible for the next generation. Only problem was, Bunting's preferred babydaddy, Oisin Llyr, has been in dutch with Crow since they were teens. She couldn't see him without throwing hands. Bunting could get pregnant if she liked, but it seemed unwise to marry and move him in. So Bunting kept inviting him over and getting him and Crow involved in neutral activities. Its a good thing Crow enjoys chess. Too bad she cheats, but it is what it is. Bunting hoped that when he fathered the heir Crow would relent. Alas, her first attempt was a dud - Eagle was a boy. So Bunting got pregnant again.

Well, today she invited Oisin, who is living with Crow and Bunting's feckless brother Salmon, over and tried to get him to fix the plumbing, but she went into labor instead and had twins! Fortunately, the second twin is the necessary girl, Dove, though the first is another boy, Turkey. Crow decided to throw a party, and Bunting decided that a toddler and twin babies really needed a father on hand. (In addition to being matrilineal, Tricksters expect women to do the farming and men to do most of the childcare.) So she proposed - after she threw out her cousin Bear, who hates Oisin every bit as much as Crow did and hasn't been the subject of a concerted reconciliation campaign, and who kept interrupting her attempts to propose by attacking him. Oisin accepted, finished fixing the plumbing, and glommed onto a baby for the rest of the night.

Alas, the party was a bust. Too much fighting and not enough bathrooms. Let's hope the wedding goes better.

In Thalia, the first set of 4th generation twins were born to Dana (Davenport) Joseph and Bernard Joseph. It unites the two most dominant families and finally ends the feud between them. The remaining elders are overjoyed at the additions to the town-Elton Davenport personally came to congratulate his granddaughter and her husband.
He told her, "You be good parents to those babies!", kissed Dana, and left forever. He is due to die later on in the rotation, as is Elijah Joseph, the head of the Joseph clan.

Veronaville 2.0 - Hamlet's Father's Ghost

I finally got him to show up after I had Claudius go and kick the gravestone. Hamlet Sr showed up that night, and the next night, and.... He wanders disconsolately around the back yard replaying his death from dark to dawn, but he doesn't seem able to come into the house. Would like to have him give Claudius a bad scare, but looks like that will only happen if Claudius goes out into the back yard.

We need groceries. The stomach is growling in the morning, causing Lucy Burb to have a bad judgement with friends. And friends is our specialty. But we cannot accept the delivery until Marylena Hamilton drops the basket on the ground. She is completely baffled by the locked gate. She also puts a fresly printed unwrapped book down on the ground.

They expect to walk over the garden as if it was communism.

I tried to follow through the delivery process but couldn't make sense of it with constant jumping from NPC to car.

I had quite the night last night-I had to retrieve and replace graves-because they weren't showing up at Thalia's cemetery properly-downloaded a mod to spawn them again and tried three different times.

Finally figured out that the lot was probably too big (and while not corrupted, not good for the purpose) to use. So I made another lot (smaller) into the town cemetery, respawned all the graves and moved them to the new cemetery.

Grimoire had sold the first cemetery so he can concentrate on his career-but he's in love with Malcolm Davenport nevertheless, who just lost his wife Kimberly (old age) and is engaged to Jenna Owen. It remains to be seen if he gets married to her or pursues Grim.

This reminds me so much of "Death Takes a Holiday".

There were often no fences around summer homes. People who came from apartment boxes expected to just walk in and do their business, sit to drink, or cross the property.

The delivery person also doesn't like a small porch. She tries to wander around and bumps into a wall, angrily stomps the foot and retreats to the mailbox carrying the basket away. With a giant mailbox like that they could put a roll of newspaper in it and a small book, instead of putting them on the ground.

If only the sim time didn't race as fast, I'd go shopping myself. Grocery deliveries are a new thing. Today I see the vans who maybe have only a few bags for some customers. They appeared maybe about 4 years ago.
