On his very first evening in downtown Veronaville, Väinö Mikhailov is just arriving by taxi at the One-Twenty-Five Café, and is leading the way into the restaurant. Micah had just taken him to the Comandgo Emporium and bought him those gold shorts.The boy just getting out of the cab is townie Kevin North, a "special friend" of Micah's, who had come along too. Also in the party but not in the picture were Micah Vincent, with whom Väinö is staying, and Julius Osprey, a boy they met at Comandgo. Väinö likes Julius.

This was the scene minutes earlier at the Comandgo Emporium:

Väinö is hanging out with Julius Osprey at the Comandgo Emporium, while Micah (almost in picture) is buying Väinö new shorts to help him "fit in" with the local gay scene. Notice what the boys are talking about; I suppose that's part of "cultural assimilation".

Sorry @Pinkdynamite . I should really have posted these pictures sooner. These pictures were taken only hours after he arrived. All in all, I think he is settling in well, despite the culture shock. He's certainly getting to know local gay boys. I'll be posting more news and pics soon. Please use your tact in deciding which pictures to show to Väinö's dad. All in all though, I think he is happy.

I'm glad to see he's so happy! (Sorry for the late reply, just got back from holiday.) I will definitely censor some of the pictures before I show his family. Those shorts alone would be enough to send his dad to an early grave!

Edit: That was a poor turn of phrase on my part, especially since his father has already lost two partners due to illness! Let's say it would give his father quite the turn instead.

One of the maids in my desert neighbourhood is Zachary "The Z Man" Zelazny. He always looks to me as though he's trying really hard to be alluring...

When I see Julian looking as happy as that, I begin to feel just a little envious. I think part of me would like to live like them. But a bigger part is very glad that I don't!!

This is what my game is like since I got that "No Jealousy at All" mod. Which of course I got for Julian and Andrew! To let them have the "open marriage" they wanted. My game was always a bit utopian. I'm not quite sure what this makes it. But it does mean I have some very happy Sims. Any thoughts?

I love it, your sims are so carefree! But, in my game I always choose contrasts- as in life, we don't see the light without the darkness, and there is never love without pain. This is why my games have Karen to steal your newspapers, and Sim Sample to cheat on you afterwards.

I asked Andrew for his thoughts:

He says, "I don't know. I reckon there's a lot of misery in world. And there were a lot of bad things happening in Veronaville in the not-so-distant past. There was still a bad atmosphere here when my mum and I first arrived. A sort of suppressed violence that might erupt at any time. We tried to enjoy ourselves, but it was hard to completely relax. That old feud between the Montys and the Capps has cast a long shadow over our town. We are trying to make sure that the future here is better than the past, and I don't see anything wrong in that. There's been an enormous improvement in the time I've been living here. But we're not there yet. I still occasionally hear of bins being kicked over. Or morning newspapers being stolen. Even in our gay community there are sometimes fights between boys at PaintBoyz. But the whole atmosphere is vastly different to what it was. It's a long time since I saw Capps and Montys fighting each other. I think the relationship between Juliette Capp and Romeo Monty, both of them teenagers like myself, has done a lot to bring these Old Veronaville families together. In the last few years lots of people have moved here -- Veronaville has become a desirable place to live. It's a young place too. And it has a very active young gay community, of which Julian and I are proud to be part. We've still a long way to go: we haven't reached Nirvana yet!! But I think we're getting there. There's a positive vibe about the place now, and I feel good to be part of that."

Here's Brian Beckham, whom all the girls agree is the most beautiful boy in school. Brian was conceived via the InSiminator with his mother Barbie (on left) serving as the incubator and doing all the hard work, and his mother Cicely (right) providing the other half of the genetic material. With minimal editing, this is what came out. He's a nice, friendly guy, but pathologically shy. 32 PP at birth, which is not a record, but is a lot nevertheless.

I mentioned in a post in the Stupid/Random Questions thread that I didn't have any pictures of the NPC Hair Stylists who had spawned in the Bluewater Baths and Salon in my game, so I asked a couple of my Sims (Chester Gieke and Joseph Lambert) to go to the Salon so I could take pictures of the stylists. I also asked them to try to talk to the resident stylists when they got. (There was some doubt as to whether it was possible, or safe, to interact with the NPC stylist.)

Here are the Bluewater stylists in the outfits they spawned in. (I have a lot of "townified" CC clothes in my game.)

Shaw Marsden (Popularity - Aries)
Shaw generated in some very sexy short shorts, but I fear that he's a bit facially challenged. Arguably his legs are more attractive than his face! I also can't help thinking that his own hair. Maybe one of the others should give him a makeover. Anyway Chester decided to speak to him. They chatted for a few minutes; they didn't exactly make friends, but they did end up with a positive relationship before Chester went home. Maybe they can build on that relationship and turn it into real friendship.


I decided that the Salon might do better if all four stylist wore short shorts similar to Shaw's. So I dressed Garrick and Spencer in short denim shorts:

I didn't change their tops, which were in any case similar to the one that Shaw was wearing. Since I took these pictures, I have given Shaw and Garrick Roman-style sandals by Charity. I don't want my Sims to hurt their feet walking around barefoot.

Oscar Meadows was wearing an all-in-one outfit, including the jeans, so I gave him a different (very skimpy) top along with short leather shorts. Unfortunately I omitted to take his picture while Chester and Joseph were at the Salon.

All however was not lost. While they were there, Joseph spent quite a bit of time chatting with Oscar. Joseph went home with Chester, who asked him to stay the night. Joseph wasn't tired, so he rang Oscar and talked to him on the 'phone for quite a long time before joining Chester in bed. Joseph was first up in the morning, so he rang Oscar again. He eventually persuaded Oscar to come roun for breakfast. Oscar duly arrived, bringing Craig Royce, the warden of the downtown "Teen Townie Hostel" with him. This gave me the opportunity to photograph Oscar in his new outfit:
