Default Best Premade House?
In your opinion, what's the best premade house there is? This includes all the houses from the base game and the various expansion packs. They can be houses currently occupied by others, or in one of the 3 foreign cities. I'm looking for a dream home for my Sims and money is not an issue.

I really like the base game one in Sunset Valley that's built over various ponds - kind of an orange and white retro feel to the whole thing. It's pretty liveable, and has a really nice style. I tend to redecorate some as it's sort of silly looking inside, but the overall structure is very cool.

I find most EA houses... weird. They may use a good layout or look really good from outside, but there will always be something strange about it. Mainly their use of space.

My favorite house is the Classy Crib that came with Ambitions because I like the townhouse style and the 3 floors. I changed the ground floor to a slightly bigger layout. No basement, however.

I love to raise kids in Classy crib and so far its been the best. I tend to paint it with burgandy paisley and reverse the patern, but so far I have raised the Funkies once, Sam Sekemoto once and at this point am raising the Vampire toddler in it. The blinds work right, the rooms are interesting, the stairs are the right width, and 4 bedrooms makes it family freindly. I love to paint it with 4 channel paper and put a pattern in each room, though the default isnt bad. The one drawback is the fence and its easy to adjust for a bigger lot, and give it a real garage to the side. I have also put a Nector factory with cellar in the back yard. The 20's style cars look perfect outside. Its like the best of San Francisco in a great package.

I agree, classy crib is my favorite right now. But I don't like how wide it is, because town homes are usually skinny. But it's still really nice.

I never got around to making the yard look nicer, but I think I'll try making a separate building for nectar making. It is a good house for sims with families - in my sim family, their son who came from the time machine has his own room on the third floor.
This is how I changed the ground floor.

If I had to pick I'd say either the 'Ginger' I think it's called - Victorian style one and the Meditteranean 3 storey house found in the base game catalogue. They are both smaller and quirkier with a bit more character than some of the others.

I like the houses in Riverview. The trailer homes on the right side of the river are just enough for my poor sims to live comfortablely while the tudor homes have enough space and a good layout for me to raise a family. Plus the outside of the house aren't godawful

I like whatsitcalled, Mosquito Cove or something in SV Sort of a preview of the Twinbrook swamp houses, heh. Very atmospheric lot.

Agreed, Mosquito Cove for sure. I remember when I first saw it in a preview it made me a lot more excited for TS3. I put a copy of it in my custom hood, added a separate basement and now my evil sim and his SimBots live there. It's even creepier if you place some fog emitters around. There's another SV house that I like, I don't remember its name but it's next to The Monotone. It was the first TS3 house I ever played in. Somehow it reminds me of the Newbie's house in TS1, I guess it's just the simplistic feeling. Some of the Twinbrook houses are really nice as well, can't remember all their names.

I always convert mosquito cove into two bedrooms no living room. It's a pain in the butt, but I always do it. And I change the color of the bricks on the outside.

In Twinbrook I liked to play in the houses of Anna-Liza Riddle and Juan Darer, but my favourite is the Curious house.
In Riverview I enjoyed the house of the Spenster sisters, which is a bit similar to the Riddle house when it comes to old lady style, and in SV I liked Mosquito Cove, too, and that house with a little tower that is built on a "cliff" at the end of the road

My favourite house would have to be Wolf Manor from SV, the open plan setup is so liveable

I always fix that one to have another room or two as well. I turn the study and the work out room in to kids rooms.

Yeah, the layout is very lazy on EAs part in a lot of the houses. I've never really liked any of the houses, and all the places I want to place my own (or, more likely, downloaded) lots are filled with the ugly game lots.

... Having said that, I did quite like the Langerak House, after a hefty revamp.

I've always loved the mansion to the left of the legacy lot in RV...
