Default Auto Save For Sims 2
Someone was asking for this in one of the post but I can not find it now.
I have also place this info in the "Essential Mods" thread even though it is not essential but it could save someones game. http://modthesims.info/showthread.php?t=532696

Creates a dialog that pops up asking if you wish to save your game. If so the game will automatically be saved, If not the game will carry on with out saving. By default the auto save dialog will appear every 24 sim hours, Though the saving frequency can be changed with the Auto Save Game Manipulator. Their are two interactions on the Auto Save Game Manipulator. The "Change Auto Save Frequency" interaction will allow the you to change how often the auto save dialog appears, Right now you can make the dialog appear every sim hour to every 100 sim hours(uses the grocery dialog). The second interaction "View Current Auto Save Frequency" will allow you to view how often the auto save dialog appears.

Install to My Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2\Downloads, If using Windows XP or older. For Windows Vista and 7 install to User Name\My Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2\Downloads.

The Auto Save Game Manipulator is in buy mode under misc then misc and looks like a hour glass, Costs $0.
Doesn't require any Expansion or Stuff Packs, It will work with just the base game.

Guess we truly don't need TS4 with its auto-save after all. :3

Thank for sharing, marka!

Did people want the script I have to automatically back up your savefiles? If there is interest I'll adapt it to Sims and upload, but if not I might as well put my time on something else :P

Given the game's propensity for corruption, I'd say that sounds very useful indeed.

Just a word of warning from someone who learned it the hard way: it will also prompt to save in (at least some) places where saving is disabled. E.g., for me it did it on a vacation community lot.

Pressing yes by reflex essentially locked up the game, so I had to terminate it via the task manager. Losing all progress since the last save.

I am surprised no one has noticed that before(not even me) or even mentioned it. I'll look into it as soon as I am able. And while I am there I'll check to see if there are any other situations that the Auto Save shouldn't kick in.

Thank you for sharing.

By the way, can we put it in a sub-folder of Downloads?

As along as you have an EP you can put every thing in sub-folders.

To be fair, it only happened once. If it helps, the lot was a hotel lot on the wossname, tropical island, just not the hotel I was actually living in. And I had been on that lot more than 24 hours in a row. Maybe that's what confused it? No idea.

I'm kinda surprised that it kicked in at all, tbh, since there was no hourglass on that lot.

Edit: Mind you, it's still a great mod to have around, but I learned to engage the brain instead of clicking "yes" by reflex.
