This user has the following games installed:

Sims 2, University, Nightlife, Open for Business, Pets, Seasons, Bon Voyage, Free Time, Apartment Life
Default Custom Objects with black square (shadow)
Hi guys, some omnths ago I've downloaded this https://www.thesimsresource.com/dow...rse/id/1074656/ converted for Sims 2 from http://digitalperversion.net/garden...?topic=31954.55.
Unfortunately, if I use the objects inside the house, they look like this:

The same happens at night:

As you can see, if they're outside the shadow is not a problem, but the only way to get rid of the black square is turning completely off the shadows (I've tried to put the setting on medium but it doesn't work).
I have the UC, I've fixed the graphics using the guide posted on http://www.leefish.nl/mybb/showthread.php?tid=5446 and I'm using the Gunmod Radiance System. For a short period I have also used the shadow fix, after using the guide I didn't need it anymore (and still, the objects would have the black square).
Is there any way to fix them without Milkshape? I'm fraid that's too much editing for me...

Yeah, it's a shadow problem. I have some small decorative objects that do this too.

Probabily, I thought so. Is there anyway to remove the shadow from the package? I wouldn't mind not having the shadow at all...

I think you can just replace the shadow texture in the package with a clear .png of the same size. Make sure it's DXT3 or DXT5.

Edit: I checked the package and there is no actual shadow texture, so this won't work. Sorry. This thread explains how to remove a shadow though.

The shadow needs to be set to "ExtRaw8Bit" AFTER importing as DXT5, but BEFORE commiting the changes. There's a dropdown list with various choices in the menu to the left in the TXTR resource (above the list of textures in different sizes). Do this and you won't get black shadow boxes.

To fix shadows, just change the texture to ExtRaw8Bit, commit and save. If that doesn't work, extract the shadow texture and reimport, following the description above.

If you don't want shadows at all (the regular ones on the shadow mesh, not outside sun shadows), delete the shadow object in the GMDC (groups tab), the shadow reference in the SHPE, and the TXTR + TXMT for the shadow. You can also color the texture of the shadow black, but make sure it's set to ExtRaw8Bit, or it will show up like the black square.

The easiest thing is to just open the GMDC in the mesh package, go into groups, select the shadow group and click delete. This will leave you with some redundant resources like SHPEs, but they won't cause any problems.

What I lack in decorum, I make up for with an absence of tact.
