Today I bring you a fantastic concept home by Guz Architects. This one posed a rather unique challenge compared to my previous Singapore Fish House and Tangga House, while at the same time providing me with greater creative freedom while building it. Since this is just a concept home (ie: it doesn't actually exist -- yet), the only images I had to work with were three concept sketches that were very small and hard to read (the largest was approximately 433x325 pixels; the other two were less than half that size).

Description of Sentosa One by Guz Architects:

"Concept design for a house at Sentosa Cove."

In the Sims 3, Sentosa One is a 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom beach bungalow with three playable levels. The underground level is not featured on the original floor plans and consists of the master bedroom and ensuite (w/ pool view), a laundry room, and a small unfinished closet. The main level features an open entertainment area with pool/beach access, an open-air kitchen w/ enclosed dining area, a second smaller bedroom (which could also function as an office, studio, or activity room), and a full bath. The top level is dominated by the great room (with front and rear decks) and a large elevated green space looking out onto the water. An elevator connects all three levels, although each is also accessible via stairs. Nature is physically present in nearly every room, with outside walls knocked down in places and replaced with lush vegetation to maintain some privacy. The presence of two fountains provides the illusion of an underground creek running through the middle of the master bedroom, while natural light is allowed to enter from the pool outside. The covered carport out front has room for two cars.

The colour scheme is nearly the same as my Singapore Fish House, which, from what I've recently been able to gather, is also located in Sentosa Cove. After doing a little research on this region of Singapore, prices start around $2,000 psf (that's two thousand Singapore dollars per square foot). I know, I know, "Singapore dollars must be like Yen -- you need ¥500 just to buy a cup of coffee at Starbucks". Sadly, no -- $1 SGD is equivalent to about 75 cents USD.

Sentosa One is built on a 20x40 lot. In my game, this house resides at what used to be 455 Sunnyside Blvd along the beach in Sunset Valley. By bulldozing the existing 40x40 lot and replacing it with this one, you still have room for two or three smaller beach homes further down the road.

Lot Size: 2x4

Lot Price: §131,694 furnished, §82,686 unfurnished

Included Custom Content: http://nene.modthesims.info/download.php?t=420948 - "Thin Square Column in Fractional Heights" by me! Although the set actually includes eight "columns" ranging from 0.25x to 2.00x in height (plus a base), only the 1.00x, 1.25x, 1.50x, and 2.00x columns are included with this lot.

PS: This home has a few minor glitches that I haven't been able to work around. The first is when entering the lot in game, the two trees on the elevated green space may occasionally appear to "float" in mid-air when viewing only the main/ground level. If this bothers you, simply switch to build/buy mode, grab each tree with the hand tool, and immediately hit ESC to reset them. They should then behave as normal when switching levels. Second, one of the two tall palm trees sometimes may only be visible when viewing the sub level. To fix this, use MOO to move the tree to the proper place on the main level. Third, the stairs leading to the beach at the back of the house aren't traversable. This may be due to the angled terrain near the edge of the pool and is unavoidable. Sims can still walk down the grassy incline to get to the base of the stairs, however. Forth (and this is an extremely minor issue), the mirrors incorporated into the bathroom counters aren't functional due the presence of the counters themselves (sims can't get close enough to use them, but there are other mirrors in the house that work just fine).
