When building Land Grant University, I mentally reserved the space across from the College Bluff Shopping Center and Big Box store for more "nice" (i.e. bland and reliable) places than other off campus venues, ones where students could safely take their parents, no funk allowed. The space in question can accommodate a number of combinations of lots with frontages and depths of three or less. The Small Chain Restaurant was specifically designed for the corner 2x3 space directly across from the Big Box store, but would not look out of place on similar corners in the business districts of most residential suburbs and middle-class districts.

The Small Chain is meant to represent one of those regional chains that seem like nothing special to people from outside the region, but which provide a sense of both identity and continuity to people traveling around within their own geographic region. This turned out to be surprisingly easy to do with only University and Night Life and no custom content. It's clean, it's moderately attractive, and you can feed the whole outing here without breaking the budget or fearing food poisoning. The pastel faux-Federal windows and door give it a bit of an East Coast vibe to my eyes. Or you could fix it up with driftwood and nets for a seaside town, some winebottle candles for that Mediterranean feel, or what have you. And wouldn't it be pleasant making out by the fountain? I'm sure nobody's looking.

Thanks to AGS and to the people on the Creator Feedback thread - especially Joandsarah, who told me how to hang the signs on the column, and I hope I don't have to do anything that finicky again for a long time.
