The Upton Project

One of the things that's bugged me since the days of the first Sims game was the distinctly American tilt to the game's aesthetics. It irked me that i couldn't create an English looking house without it either being too small to actually play, or so large that it looked more like a castle than a housing estate semi-detached family home. So, I've decided to remedy that problem. These three houses are the first part of a project i've been working on for the last few months - to make a full housing estate, with residential houses and flats, community areas, shops and entertainment facilties suitable for sims from all walks of life. Just like a real housing estate, the houses will vary in size and price, whilst still retaining the same external themes.

Included here are 1-3 Upton Lane, three small lots perfect for families that are looking to move out from cramped starter accomadation. All three are built on the same 'footprint', with minor changes to theplacement and frontage. The houses also come with small but useable back gardens, something that many modern estate houses lack. Built with Numenor's AGS, the houses require OFB, Pets and SSN.

1 Upton Lane

The first of the three houses, 1 Upton Lane is a house designed for a young couple with a small child. The house currently only has one bathroom on the ground floor, but an unused room on the first floor could easily be converted into a second bathroom, or a guestroom. The master bedroom is on the smaller side (as are most of the bedrooms in these estate houses!) but serves it's purpose. Next door is a nursery with an attached bedroom for a second child. Downstairs, the spacious kitchen and livingroom are prefect for family life, decorated in clean, modern colours. Access to the garden and patio is reached either through french doors in the kitchen, or through a side gate by the front door. mainly unused, the garden could easily house pets, gardening plots, or any manner of other curious objects. The house costs 45,223, and comes furnished as seen in the screenshots.

2 Upton Lane

2 Upton Lane is the cheapes of the three houses, at only 42,857. Designed for a family of 5+, the house currently had space for 5 sims in three bedrooms, but extra beds could be placed by knocking the wall between the childrens room and the smallest bedroom through to create a large front room (I had to do this in-game when the test family had triplets...). The house has two bathrooms, one on each floor, and again has a well-proportioned kitchen and livingroom. Outside, there is a small pond, perfect for fishing in, and a kennel. Garden access is once again either through a side gate, or through french doors leading off of the living room onto the patio.

3 Upton Lane

The last of the three houses, 3 Upton Lane is the most expensive of the houses at 62,194, and would make a perfect retirement home for your elders. The house is furnished with much better quality items, and has two double bedrooms, unlike the previous houses. There is also a small study which couls be converted into a guest room for when family members come to stay. The main draw of the house is it's garden, which has a large patio complete with barbeque for entertaining. Fruit trees and a small greenhouse provide both frech produce for the owners, as well as a hobby for those bored retirees.

The Boring Stuff

Also known as 'You just skipped past my blurbs, didn't you?' =P

The houses are all on 1x2 lots, and are priced as follows:
1 Upton Lane - 45,223 - 2 bed, 1 bath (room for a second)
2 Upton Lane - 42,857 - 3 bed, 2 bath
3 Upton Lane - 62,194 - 2 bed, 2 bath

A note on the custom content

I've broken my own personal 'no-cc' rule for this upload, as the houses just didn't look right without it. However, the CC I have used has been kept to a minimum, and to objects that I think most people already have in-game. I do understand that this isn't the case for everyone, and because of this, i have attached the lots in 2 versions - ALL and LITE.

If you DON'T have any of the CC included, download the 'UptonprojectALL.RAR' - this contains all of the CC used, but you MUST download Marvine's spiral stair animations from the link below for them to work in-game.

If you're a slave to your CC-folder and like it to be organised, or already have the CC included, then download the file 'UptonprojectLITE.RAR' - only the lotfiles are included, as I've removed the CC using CleanInstaller. These lots will NOT work without the following CC, so please make sure you download and install the right file!

All 3 houses use Marylou's 'Independent Expressions' expansion packs, which can be found HERE, HERE, HERE, and HERE

The houses also use the beautiful 'Aura' paintset, by reflects. Found HERE, I couldn't live without these paints in my sim homes.

Marvine's spiral stairs are a must, whether you have Apartment Life's maxoid spiral stairs or not. Found HERE, these simple spirals are a godsend in smaller lots - just don't forget the animation file!

Finally, THESE brick walls by kittyispretty69 are probably my most-used walls in-game, as they fit pretty much every style of lot I've come across.

Lot Size: 1x2
Lot Price: 42, 857 - 62,194

Custom Content required but not included

Marvine's spiral stair animations can be found HERE - For either version of these houses - you MUST include the animations or the stairs won't work!

Additional Credits:
Numenor, for the AGS - the Christmas update was a brilliant present =D

Aelflaed for their Sunnyside mini lots, and Andi8104 and MaryLou for the original mini lots, without which theselot wouldn't have been possible, as I fail totally at using the LotAdjuster.

All of the creators who's content I've used for these lots - Maxis content just didn't cut it this time!

Finally, thanks to everyone in #create who's listened to me moan about these lots at one stage or another =D
