This mod brings back prank calls from the very first The Sims game!
Tunables I hope that the tunables regarding the hour intervals or the length of the parts of the day will not be confusing for you, as I tried to explain them as less complicated as possible.
morningStartingHour → The hour at which the morning is considered to begin. For instance, it starts at 6 (AM) by default. morningHourLength → How many hours should the morning last. For instance, it lasts 6 hours and ends at 12 (PM) by default, thus the afternoon starts at 12. afternoonHourLength → How many hours should the afternoon last. For instance, it lasts 5 hours and ends at 17 (5 PM) by default, thus the evening starts at 17. eveningHourLength → How many hours should the evening last. For instance, it lasts 5 hours and ends at 22 (10 PM) by default, thus the night starts at 22, lasts 8 hours, and ends at 6. morningPrankCallPercentChance → The percent chance of getting a prank call at each hour of the morning. The default is 0.2%. afternoonPrankCallPercentChance → The percent chance of getting a prank call at each hour of the afternoon. The default is 0.1%. eveningPrankCallPercentChance → The percent chance of getting a prank call at each hour of the evening. The default is 0.8%. nightPrankCallPercentChance → The percent chance of getting a prank call at each hour of the night. The default is 0.4%.
⚠️It is recommended that the percent chance values are kept very low so that the overall percent chance of prank calls for a day is not disturbingly frequent. The default chance of receiving at least one prank call in a day is approximately 8.8%. customPranks → List of keys separated with commas for custom pranks. For instance, a string with a key of "Eca/CustomPrankCalls/CustomPrankKey1" and a string with a key of "Eca/CustomPrankCalls/CustomPrankKey2" should be registered as "CustomPrankKey1, CustomPrankKey2". prankNonSelectables → Whether should non-selectable household sims (e.g. dormmates) receive prank calls. They can still answer prank calls delivered to household phones. prankChildren → Whether should children receive prank calls. They can still answer prank calls delivered to household phones.
Creating Custom Pranks You can add custom pranks to the game in any supported language you want! All you need is s3pe, and some fingers! Follow these steps:
1. Open the Eca_PrankCalls.package file with s3pe.
2. Right-click on the STBL file you need to edit and click 'Edit STBL'. A new window will show up.
↳ '0x09000000CF30D11C', is an example of an STBL file instance for Greek. The characters in bold should be changing for every language. Check NRaas's page to see which pair of characters correspond to what language, but please note that unlike what the page indicates, 08 is for German, and 09 is for Greek.
3. The text box at the bottom-left of the window is where you need to write a custom key for the custom prank. It must start with 'Eca/CustomPrankCalls/' and end with the very custom key, and it must be unique for every prank. For instance: 'Eca/CustomPrankCalls/CustomPrankKey1' and 'Eca/CustomPrankCalls/CustomPrankKey2'.
4. The right part of the window is where you need to write the custom prank.
5. After you are done, click the 'Add' button, repeat this for each prank, and finally, click the 'Save' button. Answer 'Yes' to the 'Commit changes?' popup.
6. Edit the customPranks tunable accordingly as explained in the Tunables section.
7. Finally, save the .package file and exit.
Compatibility and Conflicts
This mod should not conflict with any other mods, as it is a pure script mod.
Known Issues
→ Sometimes, the prank call either your sim or household is supposed to get might not be delivered when it should have, or you might happen to have multiple prank call attempts, and if one of those calls is a success, the latter ones will not be delivered even if they are also a success.
↳ They might occur without notice since they would occur in the background and would not make a significant difference if the prank call chances are kept low.
→ If the game skips some amount of time (e.g. skipping from 6:30 to 6:32) due to lagging, and if the prank call is supposed to be delivered in that time interval (e.g. 6:31, but it's skipped), the prank call attempt will not occur for that hour.
