Yeah I know, it must be a quirk of mine, I just want to sell food to demand, prepared while the business is open. It just feels more realistic. If I hire enough cooks maybe they would be able to meet the demands on a whole day shift without having to close. I'll try that one out with 5 cooks at hand the next time I play, I bet Malcolm Landgraab wouldn't mind a business potentially crushing and burning, he's filthy rich :D

@ A.G.Doren I love your "Matchmaker" bussiness idea interest story should be fun to play, I do hope your Sims is a better matchmaker than Maxis con artist gypsy.
She really took a few of my Sims for a loop.

Note: Sorry members for this double post

I think maybe, I am near finish with adding another business to my Sims game, this post originally start by member joandsarah77 really help me, and I am sure others members will be coming up with ideas for businesses or careers in the Sims neighborhood. One thing I wanted to add is a place where Sims can come and buy, Games, Magazine, and a few postcards and newspapers. This was possible with member Michelle wonderful re- colors of Maxis magazine and game rack. And also her Maxis Men and Ladies room re-colors doors are a must have.

I was also happy to add a creation by Cmomoney and MogHughson a newspaper stand where the Sims could buy their newspaper for the price of $10, a bit high price for a paper. lol but it is the Sims world.
http://modthesims.info/download.php?t=381788 I wanted to create a 2x2 building for "games" that is "very colorful" outside and inside and up beat fun with techno music throughout and a bit on the modern side,
so I use lots of colors and pictures to raise the environment. The Sims seem to love it and always buying and looking at the game rack and magazine.
This I think will be a good business for private own, or just to have on a community lot.

Random thought-from another post (possibly in this thread) I grabbed Exnem's baked goods cart.

I wonder if I can make it 'buyable' (single desserts only) and have sims buy the desserts.

Must try this out!

will let everyone know if it works, and how well.

It sound like it would be possible to do with some modding , I'll not sure, but then again nothing is impossible under the sun ( my grandmother once said. )
I like it just the way it is, but if that feature to buy by some means was added I would be just fine with it.

I tried to do it that way, and the entire cart will be sold, not just the desserts on them. Darn..I wish that there was an way to mark each piece as sellable, like the post cards, or perhaps the cakes. I've not seen much food sold singly in the game, most of it is deco.

Unless someone has modded some. I've not seen any.

I think Exnem's dessert cart(and other foodstuffs) is working like EAxis pizza(maybe such buyable foodstuffs are cloned from pizza), so you can't sell individual pieces.

Fran, I think it already costs money. Certainly some of Exnem plates of food costs money.

Otherwise than not being single serving sellable, the cart works perfectly as it is in a restaurant or a Starbucks, (which I have one lot similar to in my game). No glitches or hiccups for it. I was surprised..because some of the older works don't work quite as well in the full set of the game. Sometimes I've had problems with Exnem's stuff, so this was a pleasant discovery.

The lot I use it on is quite the stylish one-it has a expresso barista and 2 of the Simwardrobe buffets, plus that cart, so no pixel will ever go hungry there!

I have lots of Exnem's food in my Sims Bakery that are edible, they never cost my Sims any Simoleon they love the food. My Sims seem to love anything that is free, they go after it like bees on honey.
So far I have never had any problems with Exnem's items. And I just love that Food Cart.

Could I get someone's opinion on which market looks better - the floor roof, the awning roof or the roof roof? Bearing in mind these lots will be shrunken and attached.

I like them all, although I think the yellow one is overly bendy, I think if it was flatter with the ends going up rather than down. Like Zar did here https://www.modthesims.info/d/566516

@ Snufflepaws I tend to like the red & stripe roof, not necessarily that colors, but the "shape", because here where I live they have a lot of outdoor market ( Flea Market ) with a tent made like that.

Plus they are quick and easy to build.

Ta guys.

Jo, for the roof shape I was going roughly by this image, where the back posts are shorter and the front higher. That seemed more market style in my opinion than Zara's one which I imagine more in gardens or cafes. I think the front corners would look better going up like that though.

I was opting more towards floor roofs too since you'd run out of awning styles quite quickly. As long as one floor tile is left almost flat, you can recolour the whole roof.

That looks fairly flat to me. I would just have the front a little higher than the back.

I like the roof-version best, but I think I'd like it better if it was just the regular one with the peak in the middle. Not a big fan of awnings, I think EA kind of bungled creating them. And I don't quite understand the floor-thing.

I decided on the awnings for now. They look better in neighbourhood view.

That's a good point. The row by Plasticbox in baskerville uses the game awning.

The trouble with the game awning is, that you can't drop it from view. It can be hard to get your camera viewpont down far enough to see under it without getting it uncomfortably low.

But I think I'm more sensitive to view angles than most people. The awnings look best and most realistic for a temporary market, certainly.

Ugly is in the heart of the beholder.

Wow, Snufflepaws, that looks great! Just like when you're driving through a farming area in California. Minus the cow poop smell.

Thank you Ather.

I just had quite a neat idea for a sort of business... Ghost tours Has anyone done this? Would love to see pics. My idea is to place Victorian era sim ghosts on this lot right in front of an abandoned train tunnel. Then have a gypsy sim run tours (gather customers into social groups after paying via ticket machine). Should be pretty interesting.

@Snufflepaws, did you try the Ghost Tour business?

I opened a new fishmongers. The tiny 1 by 1 was having issues with crowding and routing. Chiller displays always do cause crowding troubles unless you have extra space.

I built my fishermen a new shop on a 1 by 2 lot.

Not yet Jo. It's a new hood with so much that needs doing.

That is a neat looking building. Even better would be if you placed it as a beach lot in front of a peer/jettee.
