This is a set of 50 brand new custom lifetime wants for your sims to fulfill. No tracking on paper, they work like native!
Quick Installation
1. Download a bundle for your latest pack: BV, FT, AL, or MG. For the Ultimate Collection, get MG. For the Super Collection on Mac, get BV.
2. Extract LTWs folder from zip to your Downloads folder or its sub-folder (NOT program files).
3. Leave the folder be, and that's it. Do not delete or edit packages. Do not rename the Wants.package. If you want to pick and choose or customize wants, you can, but only after you read how to do it properly.
4. If you have other mods, run a conflict detection program or see the conflicting mods list in case you have any. Mementos LTW is especially fussy (I recommend using the ObjectScripts version -- it involves more installation steps, but you'll be glad you did it).

50 custom lifetime wants with icons, memories and all. A few slight, but needed gameplay changes are highlighted in notes as Extra edits.
New lifetime wants have custom icons, descriptions and corresponding memories. They are translated in a few languages and more translations are in progress thanks to help of lovely simmers.
Common rules for all wants
Unconventional lifetime wants
Some lifetime wants have less obvious fulfillment triggers or complex conditions, so it's sometimes worth reading description text in game. Let me emphasize some of them.
Bonus University wants
Also included four lifetime wants for University careers, updated for my setup. Credit goes mostly to Pescado and/or Squinge for extracting/remaking them and the memories, but their files contained extra resources that had to go. I also remade memories' icons and edited one memory's name.
Picking and choosing wants
Notice this file - WantTuning package. It is basically a list of lifetime wants and some other things, and it must be consistent with what you have in game. The file you get from me has 91 wants listed: 37 original, 4 uni and my 50 wants (FT and BV have less).
If you want to weed out certain wants or if you download some other wants, you have to edit the WantTuning package in SimPE. Don't let it put you off, it's as simple as adding or erasing a line of text in a straightforward text field (see the tutorial).
You don't necessarily have to remove wants from missing packs, like, if you don't have BV, the travelling wants shouldn't bother you by sitting in your folder, although I haven't tested this situation, because I have all the packs.
Customizing amounts
Feel like some amount of "X things to do" is unreasonable? Want to have to gain 10 badges instead of 5? You can change that fairly quickly -- edit a "number" field in UI Data in the WantTuning package (see the tutorial). It works for original lifetime wants as well as for custom, so you won't need a separate mod for that.
The change may not affect sims that already have the lifetime want you've customized, you'll have to reroll it to refresh the number.
It's ok to share your version of WantTuning file for others to use. I'm adding links to the Additional mods list at the bottom of this page.
Warnings
Uninstalling
If you're simple like me, just remove the files.
If you think that deleting custom memories corrupts the 'hood, do this cleanup first:
0. Do not delete any files just yet.
1. In game, buy the uninstalling cube for 1 simoleon in General/Miscellaneous (where most hacks are).
2. Click an option to uninstall a lifetime want, or a whole set.
3. Wait for a notification that the cube has finished its job.
4. Save the game and quit.
5. If you uninstall all wants, delete all LTW files and the WantTuning package and the whole folder really, and that's it.
6. If you only uninstall some, delete the corresponding LTW files and then edit the WantTuning package to remove their IDs from the list (see the tutorial).
Some Reassurance
The cube goes through all sims in town and deletes custom memories, gossip and trackers associated with a certain lifetime want, so you won't have to worry about doing it by hand, if you're the type of player who does that. It only deletes custom data, doesn't touch original tokens and memories. The cube doesn't clean wants history, because I don't know if it can or should be done.
If you've already deleted the files without doing a cleanup, don't worry, your game won't blow up in your face. The thing is, I don't have evidence whether it's safe or harmful to remove memories like that, but some people have concerns that it may damage your neighborhood in the long term, so go with what you see fit.
Removing custom lifetime wants didn't seem to cause any trouble in my testing game. Sims will reroll LTW if their assigned custom one was removed, without any errors. Fulfilled and attempted wants do save in sim's wants history. They are not tied to other wants and not included in want trees, so it shouldn't hurt anything, but it is unknown if their removal carries any hidden side effects.
The fact that we have had university lifetime wants -- essentially custom, because they are not in the game files -- for a long time, and haven't heard horror stories about their removal, gives me some reassurance that this is safe.
Conflict resolving
LTWs may clash with other mods that override the same resources, although it doesn't always mean they are incompatible.
If your conflict is not mentioned here, ask in the comments, or try the load order dance to see how it works, or decide which mod you want to keep and remove the other. If you remove my LTW don't forget to edit the WantTuning package to erase that LTW's ID from the list (see the tutorial).
Known Conflicts and What To Do:
New want related instances
They were not used by the game, so these are not overrides, but if someone decides to use the same resources, our mods will conflict. There are plenty of instances to go around, though. These are the ranges I've used, all in order:
XWNT (want XML): 0xF5029003 - 0xF5029034
IMG (icons): 0xFF17C003 - 0xFF17C034
STR# (names): 0x00002783 - 0x000027B4
BHAV (check trees): 0x00001403 - 0x00001434
If you create your own LTW, please submit instance IDs to Palominocorn&Rio's spreadsheet to avoid conflicts, as HCDU+ and SiMidge don't seem to catch conflicting wants and icons.
Replaced used in-game resources
Some overrides were needed for the wants to be trackable and fulfillable through gameplay. About 1-3 BHAVs per file, although SupernaturalCombo has 8 and VacationsMementos - 39! There are a lot of mementos.

Additional mods from elsewhere
hunt_bugs_in_diff_hoods - makes bugs hunting more challenging. Depending on the number of attached neighborhoods, it won't let you catch more than a certain amount of new specimens in one area, you'll have to travel to complete your collection.

# | name | description | requirements & conditions | notes |
---|---|---|---|---|
1 | Collect All Vacation Mementos | You would love to travel everywhere and experience everything the world has to offer. Be active and curious on vacations and watch your sticker collection grow. It can be found in the corner of the memories panel. Once you've gained the last memento, it will bring you permanent platinum aspiration. | Bon Voyage. Family, Knowledge or Pleasure sim with Travel interest 7+. | Combined file: VacationsMementos. Sims that started their collection before installing this mod may have to redo some mementos. |
2 | Have 20 Good Vacations | You dream of faraway places. Go on vacation often and have a good time there. Becoming frequent traveler will bring you platinum aspiration for life. | Bon Voyage. Wealth, Romance or Pleasure sim with Travel interest 7+. | Combined file VacationsMementos or separate file VacationsOnly, if you download a version without Mementos. Since fulfillment is triggered by the end of vacation when sims almost disappear from a lot in an airport shuttle, I made it show a pop-up message to give you time to see the congratulations. |
3 | Wellness of Body & Mind | You really care about physical and mental health. On your path to ultimate wellness, you'll become super fit, reach maximum body skill and fitness enthusiasm by doing yoga and other exercises, learn physiology, lifetime happiness and anger management, hone your interest in health with magazines, master tai chi and meditation by spending hours perfecting your balance. One day, you will drink your usual protein shake and realize that this is it — you've become the best you you can be! (Not kidding, you fulfill this lifetime want after drinking a protein shake.) | FT+AL. Pleasure, Romance or Knowledge sim with Health interest 6+, or predestined Fitness hobby. Also, sim must be not Lazy (4+), not Mean (4+) and not too Playful (up to 8, for meditation). | Wellness file. Removed from FT, BV bundles for lack of AL. Tai chi and meditation skills are hidden, so if the want doesn't fulfill, it's probably one of them that needs more working on. The game checks for LTW completion after drinking a protein shake. |
4 | Discover 10 Stars and 10 Planets with Telescope | You want to become an accomplished astronomer. Stargaze and search for planets using telescope during night time to discover new celestial bodies. To search for planets you may need to increase your enthusiasm for science. | Free Time. Predestined Science hobby, or Knowledge sim with Science enthusiasm 5+ and Serious (up to 3). | Astronomer file. Removed from BV bundle. Extra edit: extended the amount of discoverables from 2 stars and 2 planets to 10 each, somewhat reduced the chance and made it depend on Logic skill. |
5 | Sew 300 Items on Sewing Machine | You want to be a tailor. Sew many things and gain a gold talent badge in sewing while working on your goal. Doesn't matter if you open a shop, work in someone else's, or do it for fun. Once you've created enough items, you'll consider yourself a happy master! | Free Time. Predestined Arts & Crafts hobby with Fashion interest 5+, or Sewing badge with Fashion interest 5+ and Arts & Crafts enthusiasm 5+. | Combined file: Crafting_x5. Removed from BV bundle. May not work with custom sewing machines, but it's possible to update them: from "Interaction - Make", call semi-global (instead of custom) bhav "FX - Craft Obj Done" #201B and pass "5" as first parameter. |
6 | Sculpt 300 Pieces on Pottery Wheel | Your passion is pottery. Sculpt many pieces and gain a gold talent badge in pottery while working on your goal. Doesn't matter if you open a shop, work in someone else's, or do it for fun. Once you've created enough items, you'll consider yourself a happy master! | Free Time. Predestined Arts & Crafts hobby with Culture interest 5+, or Pottery badge with Culture interest 5+, Arts & Crafts enthusiasm 5+ and Sloppiness less than 5. | Combined file: Crafting_x5. Removed from BV bundle. If custom pottery wheels exist, this want may not work with them, but updating is possible: from "Interaction - Make", call semi-global (instead of custom) bhav "FX - Craft Obj Done" #201B and pass "6" as first parameter. |
7 | Make 300 Toys | You want to make lots of toys and gain a gold talent badge in toy making while working on your goal. Doesn't matter if you open a shop, work in someone else's, or do it for fun. Once you've crafted enough toys, the joy they bring to kids will come back at you with a platinum aspiration! | Open For Business. If FT is installed: predestined Arts & Crafts hobby with Toys interest 5+, or Toy making badge with Toys interest 5+ and Arts & Crafts enthusiasm 5+. If no FT: Toys interest 5+ and Knowledge, Family or Toy making badge. | Combined file: Crafting_x5 (x3 for BV). May not work with custom benches, but updating is possible: from "Interaction - Make", call semi-global (instead of custom) bhav "FX - Craft Obj Done" #201B and pass "7" as first parameter. UPD: if you have a mod that links toy making to tinkering, you may want to also download zzPatch_ToysTinkering_CraftingLTW. |
8 | Create 300 Devices on Robot Workbench | You dream of robotics. Construct many devices and gain a gold talent badge in robotery while working on your goal. Doesn't matter if you open a shop, work in someone else's, or do it for fun. Once you've created enough items, you'll consider yourself a happy master! | Open For Business. If FT is installed: predestined Tinkering hobby, or 5+ enthusiasm and normal conditions. Normal, non-FT conditions: personality on the Serious and Shy side (less than 5 points) with Knowledge, Wealth or Robotery badge. | Combined file: Crafting_x5 (x3 for BV). May not work with custom benches, but updating is possible: from "Interaction - Make", call semi-global (instead of custom) bhav "FX - Craft Obj Done" #201B and pass "9" as first parameter. UPD: if you have a mod that links robot making to science, you may want to also download zzPatch_RobotsScience_CraftingRobotsLTWs. |
9 | Make 300 Flower Arrangements | You want to be a florist. Make many flower bouquets and gain a gold talent badge in flower arranging while working on your goal. Doesn't matter if you open a shop, work in someone else's, or do it for fun. Once you've created enough items, you'll consider yourself a happy master! | Open For Business. If FT is installed: predestined Arts & Crafts hobby, or enthusiasm 5+ and Flower Arranging badge. No FT: Romance, Pleasure or Flower Arranging badge (sadly, no interest that'd be obviously related). | Combined file: Crafting_x5 (x3 for BV). May not work with custom benches, but updating is possible: from "Interaction - Make", call semi-global (instead of custom) bhav "FX - Craft Obj Done" #201B and pass "8" as first parameter. UPD: if you have a mod that links flower arranging to nature, you may want to also download zzPatch_FlowersNature_CraftingLTW. |
10 | Restore 50 Cars | Show your skill and passion for cars by turning beaten clunkers into shining vintage. It'll take a lot of restored cars to become a well respected car mechanic. By that time you're bound to have maximized your mechanical skill and tinkering hobby. (Pro tip: you may get family members to help you on cars, but make sure to be the one finishing them.) | Free Time. Predestined Tinkering hobby, or enthusiasm 5+ with Seriousness (up to 3) and Family, Knowledge, Wealth or Pleasure aspiration. | RestoredCars file. Removed from BV bundle. |
11 | Catch 200 Fish | Boot and catfish, bass and trout. You want to devote your life to fishing. Score this many fish, gain a gold talent badge and you'll become a seasoned angler. | Seasons. With FT: predestined Nature hobby with interest 5+ in Animals, or Nature enthusiasm 5+ with normal conditions. Normal, no-FT conditions: Family, Knowledge or Fishing badge with 5+ interest in Animals and personality on the Sloppy side (less than 5). | Fishing file. |
12 | Perform 200 Paid Salon Makeovers | You want to become an accomplished stylist and make a living using salon chair. Open a business or get a job in someone else's and start waving those scissors and brushes. When you give this many makeovers to paying customers and get a gold badge in cosmetology, you'll know you've become a pro! (Free makeovers do not count towards the goal, but give you experience to do your job better.) | Open For Business. Fashion interest 6+ and Romance or Reputation aspiration or Cosmetology badge. | SalonMakeovers file. |
13 | Publish $5,000 Bestseller | If you want to become a best-selling author, start typing away. The more novels you put out the higher their value. It's important that you publish them, so make sure to take those calls. One day, you will write a bestseller of all bestsellers and be happy for the rest of your life. Good luck! (Unmodded, it will take about 20-30 tries with max creativity.) | If FT is installed: predestined Film & Literature hobby, or enthusiasm 5+ with normal conditions. Normal, non-FT conditions: Popularity, Knowledge or Wealth aspiration with personality on the Shy side (less than 5) points. | Novels file. |
14 | Paint $1,000 Masterpiece | Maximize your creativity skill and keep painting. Each new piece you create will get more and more expensive. With a lot of work and a bit of luck, some day, you will paint a masterpiece so valuable that it'll make you happy for the rest of your life! (Unmodded, it will take about 60-80 tries after max creativity.) | If FT is installed: predestined Arts & Crafts hobby, or enthusiasm 5+ with normal conditions. Normal, non-FT conditions: Popularity, Romance or Wealth aspiration with 6+ interest in Culture. | Painting file. |
15 | Gain 5 Gold Badges | You are a person of many talents. Get this many gold badges of your choosing — from sales to gardening — and become the most proficient and happy craftsperson of all! | OFB/S/FT. Knowledge aspiration and that's it. | Note that Open For Business has 7 badges, Seasons has 2 and Free Time has 2. If you don't have packs with enough badges for this lifetime want, you should customize it, or it won't show up in game. File: GoldBadges. |
16 | Win Fights with 20 Different Sims | You want to literally fight for your happiness and beat it out of this many sims. To start a fight, you may have to lower the relationships first. Having high body skill will help you win more often. Once you've won enough times, your aspiration will rise as strong as you are. | Either Mean Popularity sim, or Mean sim with predestined Sports hobby, or Werewolf. (Mean is up to 3 niceness points.) | File: Fights. |
17 | Reach Maximum Enthusiasm in 5 Hobbies | There's just too many interesting things in this world! You want to try out many hobbies and can't stop — you have to make the most of them. Start now! It doesn't have to be simultaneous, may do them one by one, the memory is what counts. | Free Time. Knowledge or Pleasure sim on the Playful side (6+ points). | Playful sims are said to be curious, hence the requirement. File: HobbyEnthusiast. Removed from BV bundle. |
18 | Raise a Wonder Child | You want to bring up a genius. They say, early development is the most important, so you want to be directly responsible for teaching your child to walk, talk, potty, sing nursery rhyme, and then later — to study. Make sure to put your prodigy through the best private school, see that he or she gets an A+ and never a D, and always grows up good, never unhappy. As a teen, proves to be an overachiever by topping a part-time career while maintaining high grades, and gets a college scholarship for any main skill. That skill has to be maxed out by the end of college, where you'll expect no less then a graduation with the highest possible honors — summa cum laude. This will be your finest hour as a parent making you happy for the rest of your life. (Nursery rhyme is only required in Free Time.) | University. Family or Knowledge sim, not Robot, with Serious (0-3) and Neat (7-10) personality. | Even though servos can adopt, I went with maxis principle of not allowing children related wants for them. File: WonderChild. |
19 | Self-Employed Talent: Top Business With Maxed Skill/Badge + Sales, Restoking, Register | Master a craft or occupation and reach the top level with your shop selling your goods and services. A talent can be a gold badge in toy making, flower arranging, robotery, cosmetology, gardening, fishing, pottery or sewing, or — if your trade is food or paintings — maxed cooking or creativity skill. Apart from the main mastery, you must do sales, restocking and cash register yourself and gain at least silver badges in those. In case of cosmetology, put some side products for sale. (If you happen to top a business before meeting other requirements, you can lose a rank and get to the top level again, to fulfill the want.) | Open For Business. Popularity or Wealth aspiration. | File: SelfEmployedTalent. Extra edit: memory of topping a biz now remembers what lot ID it is related to and doesn't repeat twice for the same lot. |
20 | Have 30 Successful Parties | You want to be the center of your town's social life. Throw parties often and make sure your guests enjoy them so that you get the best memories. You'll know you've lived a full life, if you've had so many great events. (Parties count by memories.) | Popularity or Pleasure, not too Shy and not too Serious (4+ points each). | File: Parties. |
21 | Spend 200 Hours Teaching Others | You want to be helpful and bring wisdom to those who'd listen. Various opportunities are available to teach others. Impart knowledge, if you have appropriate aspiration benefit and high skill. Instruct in hobby, if you have high enthusiasm and wish to share it. Offer lessons at career rewards to those less experienced. Lastly, help young people with their homework and college assignments. | Family or Knowledge, not too Shy and not Mean (4+ points each). | File: Teacher. |
22 | Be Member of 10 Hobby Clubs and Secret Society and Have Best Friends in Each | You want to be included and welcomed in many places at once. Gain pass cards to as many hobby lots as you can and become best friends with at least one other member. And if you ever go to college, be sure to join a secret society by befriending its members and become best friends with at least one of them. Keep those friendships throughout your life. Being an insider in so many closed clubs will make you the happiest sim! (If you don't have University or don't go to college at all, SS is not required.) | Free Time. Popularity aspiration. | Since there is another want for maximizing hobbies, I wanted this one to be more about socializing. File: Member. Removed from BV bundle. Also, you may be interested in Hobby Lot Visitors Membership Fix. |
23 | Repair 200 Objects | You want to be the handyperson around your house and maybe even your whole neighborhood. You'll be happy to fix everything and everywhere! Cheap or old appliances and plumbing and relentless tinkering may help your cause. | If FT is installed: predestined Tinkering hobby, or 5+ enthusiasm with other conditions. No-FT conditions: Family or Knowledge sim on the Serious side (up to 4 points). | Repairman file. |
24 | Earn $10,000 Rapping, Breakdancing or Firedancing | You want to make a living as a street performer. Go to a lively community lot and start to gather tips performing breakdance, firedance, freestyle, or all three activities in turn. The more creative you are, the higher the pay, so work on that skill in your spare time. Breakdance and firedance need to be learned from local dancers first, and rap doesn't. | U/BV/AL. If FT is installed: predestined Music & Dance hobby, or enthusiasm 5+ with other conditions. Other, non-FT conditions: Popularity or Pleasure with 5+ interest in Entertainment, not Shy and not Serious (4+ points each). | File: StreetPerformer. |
25 | Earn $10,000 as Personal Fitness Trainer | You want to make a living by training others on exercise equipment. Start spending time at a gym and building your body skill to be able to offer your services as personal trainer to less experienced people. Find customers on community lots or open your own place. You will earn money, have a flexible schedule and stay in good shape! | University. If FT is installed: predestined Fitness hobby, or 5+ enthusiasm with normal conditions. Normal, no-FT conditions: Popularity or Romance with Active personality (7+). | File: Trainer. I recommend getting a fix for personal trainer interaction (there's a rare, but annoying glitch with it). |
26 | Drinks Master: Take 200 Orders as Bartender or Barista | To become bartender or barista, you may open your own bar of coffee shop, be employed at someone else's business, or make it your side job and pour drinks on community lots. Once you have served this many customers, you may consider yourself a pro and be happy. | If FT is installed: predestined Cuisine hobby, or 5+ enthusiasm with other conditions. Other, non-FT conditions: Romance, Pleasure or Popularity with 7+ interest in Food. | File: DrinksMaster. |
27 | Maximize Influence and Use It 200 Times | You dream of power over people, be it delegating chores or impacting life changing events. To raise your influence capacity — found beside your aspiration meter — make a lot of friends. Also, fulfill wants with blue frames to get points you can spend on telling others what to do. Once you have maxed your influence bar and successfully used your power this many times, your aspiration will also rise in platinum. | Popularity with any personality, or Outgoing Pleasure (7+ points). | File: Influencer. I recommend getting a fix for influence to talk interaction (there's a small error). |
28 | Have 20 Simultaneous Enemies and Terrible Reputation | They say you're a bad apple. Well, show them — piss them off good! How would they like them apples?! Let them all know who you are. It takes effort, so your reputation will be well deserved. One day, after making another new enemy, you'll realize you're universally hated, but happy as hell! (Bad reputation is only required, if Apartment Life is installed.) | Popularity or Romance sim, extremely Mean (0-1) and on the Outgoing side (6+ points). | No sim ever wants to make enemies, but mean pop&rom sims are inclined to want bad reputation, so I went with it. Extra edit: mean sims with 0-1 niceness points get a good memory of making an enemy, unlike the rest sims. It's the same original memory, but on a green background and without crying over it. Also I made the enemy memory unique per sim instead of unique-unique, so that sims get one memory per enemy instead of one memory in life, like it was by default. If you want it to be repeatable more than once per sim, like when you reconcile and then become enemies again, download the Enemies_RepeatableEnemyMem version and remove the regular Enemies version. |
29 | Make $10,000 by Playing Poker | You want to be a professional poker player. Play often with other people and make sure your chips are piling up. The more people, the bigger the pot. To make money, you should pay attention to your chip stack and make a wise decision whether you should quit while you're ahead or stay one more round. You can't always win, but one day, you'll win enough to be happy for the rest of your life. (Score doesn't update when sims are not controllable, to prevent it from going down.) | Night Life. If FT is installed: predestined Games hobby, or 5+ enthusiasm with other conditions. Other, non-FT conditions: Popularity or Pleasure with 5+ Money interest. | File: Poker. You may be interested in Poker - Skill Based Nuances mod. |
30 | Job Hopper: Get Promoted In 15 Different Careers | You want to try your hand in different fields. There are so many of them, how can you settle on just one? Get a job, prove yourself by getting promoted, get bored... and move on! Change this many careers, full-time or part-time, and you'll be satisfied with your varied and eventful life. | Romance or Pleasure and not too Serious (4+ poins). | File: JobHopper. I tied it to promotions to ensure sims actually work at their jobs at least a day and don't just cycle through jobs by taking an offer and immediately taking another. |
31 | Make $10,000 by Playing Pool | The game of pool is your passion and may be your livelihood. The more you play, the better is your skill. When you're a good enough shooter, start playing for money with other sims. You'll call yourself an established professional when you earn this much simoleons. (Score doesn't update when sims are not controllable, to prevent it from going down.) | U/FT/AL. If FT is installed: predestined Games hobby, or 5+ enthusiasm with other conditions. Other, non-FT conditions: Popularity or Pleasure on the Playful side (6+ points). | File: PoolHustler. |
32 | Make $10,000 Working as DJ | Your lifelong dream is to be a successful DJ. Get behind the turntables and perform at night clubs. To make more money, develop high creativity skill. Once you've earned this much, you'll also earn platinum aspiration. (If you work as an employee or play in your own club, your progress will count as if you were freelancing, regardless of how much you actually earn. This is to give you an option to fulfill your dream with an owned lot, but it still has to be a community lot.) | NL/FT. FT: predestined Music & Dance hobby, or 5+ enthusiasm with other conditions. Other, non-FT conditions: Pleasure sim with 5+ Entertainment interest. | File: DJ. Custom dj booths probably won't count. |
33 | Reach Career Top and Have 3 Children on High Levels | You want your family to succeed and your name to go a long way, whether you create a respected dynasty in one field, or own this town by having your family in all the key positions of power. To fulfill your dream, reach the top of any full-time career and wait for your children to reach at least level 6 in their careers. If you have retired at the top of your career, it will also count, as long as you stay retired. Good luck! | Wealth or Family sim with 5+ Work interest, not Robot. | Even though servos can adopt, I went with maxis principle of not allowing children related wants for them. File: CareeristClan. |
34 | Earn $10,000 by Playing Musical Instruments | You wish to dedicate your life to music, but not necessarily commit yourself to a formal career. Play piano, guitar, bass, drums or violin on your own terms! To be a success as a freelance musician, work on your creativity and perform for money at various venues. The higher the skill, the more you earn. Good luck! | If FT is installed: predestined Music & Dance hobby, or 5+ enthusiasm with other conditions. Other, non-FT conditions: Romance, Popularity or Pleasure with 6+ interest in Entertainment or Culture. | File: Musician. |
35 | Harvest 2,000 Best Quality Garden Produce | You want to become a productive farmer. Grow a lot of plants or trees, gain a gold talent badge in gardening and harvest this much great quality fruits or veggies over the years. To get better and bigger crops, take good care of your garden every day, use fertilizers and plant seeds in the most favorable season. Doesn't matter if you keep the yield or sell it right away, either way it will fill your heart with joy. | Seasons. Being a Plantsim is a straight pass, regardless of anything else. With FT: predestined Nature hobby, or enthusiasm 5+ with normal conditions. Normal, no-FT conditions: Family, Knowledge or Gardening badge with 5+ interest in Weather and personality on the Sloppy side (less than 5). | File: Gardening or Gardening_FasterHarvest. May not work with custom harvestable plants and orchard trees unless they are updated (small edit to harvest logic to call new semi-global, look into my file to see what I did). |
36 | Complete Insect Collection | You want to discover all butterflies, spiders and beetles, and be recognized as Elemental in nature hobby club. To fulfill your dream, hunt bugs, catch butterflies and go on hikes. High levels of nature and science enthusiasm will let you find rare specimens and increase the chances of catching them. To raise the latter, you may study the life of ants living in an ant farm. One day, you will admire your impressive collection of insects displayed in a box on the wall, and it will make you the happiest sim. (Try viewing your collection if the lifetime want hasn't fulfilled naturally.) | Free Time. Predestined Nature hobby, or Nature enthusiasm 5+ with predestined Science hobby, Knowledge aspiration and 5+ Animals interest. | File: BugCollection. Removed from BV bundle. Get Cyjon's Bug Collection Fix to be able to complete it. |
37 | Outlive (Rich) Spouses Until You Have $150,000 | You want your wealth to come easy to you. Who needs work, when you've got good looks and no morals? Get married and wait for your spouse to pass on. Or don't just wait... Be they rich, old or numerous, it doesn't matter. One day, at funeral, when you acquire this much money in funds and property value, it will — despite the saying — bring you happiness! (Inheritance money also counts, even though it may come a little later.) | Wealth aspiration and Mean person (up to 3 points). | File: BlackWidow. I went with money instead of spouses amount to give more freedom and variation in how you can complete this want: kill off dozens of poor townies or hunt down one fat cat. |
38 | Be Vampire and Turn 10 Sims into Vampires | Your lifelong dream is having an endlessly long life and creating your own vampire clan to keep you company. Grow fangs and turn this many sims into vampires to get platinum aspiration for the rest of eternity. To be able to bite someone's neck, you may have to improve your relationships first. | Night Life. Knowledge, not Shy (4+ points) and either having 8+ Paranormal interest, or already a Vampire. | File: Vampires. Knowledge sims are the only ones who'd love to turn their friends and to stay vampires themselves. I raised the interest level to prevent this lifetime want from popping up too often. This will have a "conflict" with any mods that make it possible to bite sims without turning them into a vampire - like just to feed on them, or to kill them, because that will generate the same "bit sim" memory, which will be counted by the LTW as a turned vampire. |
39 | Resurrect 10 Sims as Zombies | Your dream is to raise a horde of zombies. To fulfill it, bring this many dead sims back, but not quite to life. There are three ways to resurrect the undead: use Resurrect-O-Nomitron from the Paranormal career and pay too little, make a wish to genie from the lamp that fails, or cast an evil witch spell Vivificus Zombiae. | U/FT/AL. Knowledge sim with Mean personality (up to 3 points) and at least one of the three things: working in Paranormal career, having 8+ Paranormal interest, or being an evil Witch. | File: Zombies. Random fact: sims want to make zombies of sims they don't like and resurrect normally those who they do like. |
40 | Be 3 Supernaturals Simultaneously | You are curious to experience as many life states as you can. Find ways to become werewolf, witch, plantsim, vampire or zombie at the same time, and you'll be the most interesting and happy sim of all! | NL/P/S/(AL/U/FT). Knowledge sim with 8+ interest in Paranormal, not Bigfoot ('cause they can't become most supernaturals). | File: SupernaturalCombo. Extra edit: became werewolf memory is now good for knowledge sims and bad for others (by default, it's bad for all). It's the same original memory, but on a green background and without crying over it. On another note, if sims become supernaturals through cheats/hacks, it may or may not trigger want fulfillment depending on how those hacks work (the painting does, the custom potions not quite). |
41 | Have 3 Robots and Be Married to One of Them | You want to live among robots and maybe even feel like you're one of them. Your dream will come true once you initialize your last robot, already having the rest in your household and being married to one of them. You may not create all of them yourself, but you do have to bring at least the last one to life. | Open For Business. Bear with me here. 1) Turn-on for Robots is a straight pass, regardless of anything else. 2) Turn-off for Robots is a block, regardless of anything else. 3) Being a Robot without a turn-off for robots is pass. 4) Other non-FT conditions: extremely Shy (0-1) or extremely Lazy (0-1) Knowledge sim with 8+ Sci-Fi interest. 5) If FT is installed: extremely Shy or extremely Lazy sim with 8+ Sci-Fi interest and either a) predestined Tinkering hobby and non-Family aspiration, or b) Tinkering enthusiasm 5+ and Knowledge aspiration without Family secondary aspiration. | File: Robots. Works with both original and custom turn-ons, as long as robots are in the same place (LD's and Midge's are, not sure about Simler's). Will not work with custom buyable robots. UPD: if you have a mod that links robot making to science, you may want to also download zzPatch_RobotsScience_CraftingRobotsLTWs. |
42 | Get Abducted 20 Times and Learn From Aliens | Extraterrestrial beings have knowledge that you wish they shared with you. Every time you watch for UFOs with an expensive telescope, there is a chance you'll meet civilized aliens that will enlighten you instead of what they usually do. This is an advanced option that becomes available on high levels of science enthusiasm. Your dream will be fulfilled once you return with skills already having this many encounters under your belt. (If you don't have Free Time, get abducted by regular means: stargaze through an expensive telescope at night and wait for aliens to look back and come for you.) | If FT is installed: Knowledge sim with predestined Science hobby, or 5+ enthusiasm and 8+ Sci-Fi interest. No FT: Knowledge sim with 8+ Sci-Fi interest. | File: AlienAbductions. This LTW is #42 if you count it alphabetically after 41 maxis wants, and it's also #42 in this set alone if you count them by IDs. Weird, huh? |
43 | Reach Peak Magic Alignment and Cast 100 Spells as Witch | You want to use witchcraft to change the world around you, either shine a light, or plunge it into darkness. Prove yourself by reaching maximum virtuousness or wickedness and performing many acts of magic. Next time you cast a spell, you might realize your new great power — the power of permanent platinum aspiration! | Apartment Life. Witch, or Knowledge with 8+ Paranormal interest. | Combined file: Witches_x2. Removed from FT, BV bundles for lack of AL. Random fact: it seems that sims get a bad memory of becoming a witch, if an evil witch turned them, and a good memory, if it was a good witch. I haven't changed that. |
44 | Master Magic Skill and Make 300 Potions, Reagents or Objects as Witch | You want to be a practical and prosperous witch rather than fly in the clouds. Learn the ways of magic, fire up your cauldron and get down to business. With time and skill, you'll be able to make more and more. Use your creations yourself or sell them and turn profit. | Apartment Life. Witch, or Knowledge with 8+ Paranormal interest. | Combined file: Witches_x2. Removed from FT, BV bundles for lack of AL. |
45 | Win 20 Cooking Contests and Learn To Prepare Well 20 Dishes | You want to be an acclaimed chef. Here's the recipe for making your dream come true. Learn cooking and prepare well as many types of dishes as you can using good appliances to ensure high quality. "Learned to cook" memories may help you keep track, although they are not required. If you burn food, try again, you can do it! Meanwhile, join cooking contests that are usually hosted on the secret hobby lot that becomes available on the middle level of cuisine enthusiasm. Once you've won enough of those, you'll be rewarded with the grand prize of permanent platinum aspiration. (If you don't have that many types, you can make up the difference with custom foods.) | Free Time. Predestined Cuisine hobby alone, or 5+ Cuisine enthusiasm with 7+ Food interest and Family, Popularity or Wealth aspiration. | Combined file: ContestsCookGameDance. Removed from BV bundle. |
46 | Win 30 Gaming Competitions and Own All 8 Video Games | You want to make esports your livelihood and keep up to date with the gaming world. To be successful, play with others and have all video game CDs, including Mr. Humble's. Gaming competitions are available on computers almost anywhere. Once you've won this many, you'll be rewarded with the grand prize of permanent platinum aspiration. (Only original video games count.) | Free Time. Predestined Games hobby alone, or 5+ Games enthusiasm with 7+ Entertainment interest and Pleasure or Popularity aspiration. | Combined file: ContestsCookGameDance. Removed from BV bundle. |
47 | Win 30 Dance Contests and Maximize Body and Dance Skills | You want to conquer the world with your moves. Master your body skill and your main dancing skill — although there's no way to track it — and learn foreign Slap and Hula dances enough to get the memories. Then enter dance contests that are usually hosted on the secret hobby lot that becomes available on the middle level of music and dance enthusiasm. Once you've won this many, you'll waltz away with the grand prize of permanent platinum aspiration! (Slap and Hula dance skills are only required in Bon Voyage.) | Free Time. Predestined Music & Dance hobby alone, or 5+ enthusiasm with 7+ Culture interest, at least 5 points Activeness and Pleasure, Popularity or Wealth aspiration. | Combined file: ContestsCookGameDance. Removed from BV bundle. Get my Dance Skill Fix to be able to max out hidden dance skill by dancing to stereo. |
48 | Write 30 Restaurant Guides and Try 30 High Quality Dishes* | Your dream is to be a food critic, a gourmet. Dine out, go places, cook and taste different foods, including exotic dishes from all over the world. This will give you juicy material to write restaurant guides — something you can do with an aspiration bonus. Make sure you publish them and take the calls. If you cook, use good appliances for better quality results. Once you have eaten & written enough, you will get platinum aspiration for life — right after another publisher's call. (Depending on installed packs and attached vacation destinations, among the eaten dishes must be at least one dish from each BV and AL foodstands, any Seasons fish dish, Appetizer platter from 8th level of cuisine hobby. If you don't have many types, you can make up the difference with custom foods.) | FT+NL. Pleasure sim with either predestined Cuisine hobby, or 5+ Cuisine enthusiasm and 7+ Food interest. | File: FoodCritic. Removed from BV bundle. If you have a lot of custom foods, I recommend customizing this want to increase the number, because food guides are pretty quick to write. |
49 | Have $100,000 Mansion, Perfect Garden, All Hired Help and Luxury Items* | Your dream is to live like a king. Make sure your residential lot reaches the indicated cost. Hire a maid, a gardener and a butler, if one is available. Own at least 4 out of 7 categories of status items, such as: swimming pool, hot tub, fountain, car, grandfather clock, elevator, expensive sculpture ($1000). Finally, invite garden club members to evaluate your landscaping. Once you get the perfect score, your dream will be fulfilled. (Butler is only required if Apartment Life is installed.) | Seasons. Wealth aspiration. | File: Mansion. I recommend getting CJ-ButlerAsksToFire fix, it may be useful if you let your butler fire NPCs and then can't hire them again under that butler. |
50 | Reach Maximum Long-Term Aspiration | Your dream is to live a life to its fullest. Keep your spirits high as often as you can by doing what you really want and achieving your goals — and watch your lifetime aspiration meter go up. It can be found right beside the regular aspiration bar. To boost it further, pass life milestones of a well-rounded person: grow up, have first kiss, first woohoo, graduate from college, fall in love, marry, have a child or adopt, maximize hobby, career and business. You might also take genie's help and wish for peace of mind. (This want doesn't give a custom memory, there is original one.) | FT/AL/M&G. No restrictions, apart from not having already maxed out the long-term aspiration bar. | Do not confuse it with permanent platinum aspiration. Permaplat concerns short-term aspiration, and even though it contributes to the long-term aspiration day by day, these are two separate meters. File: LifeLiver. Removed from BV bundle. |
New lifetime wants have custom icons, descriptions and corresponding memories. They are translated in a few languages and more translations are in progress thanks to help of lovely simmers.
Common rules for all wants
- Grilled cheese sims are special in that the only normally available lifetime want for them is Eat X Grilled Cheese Sandwiches, unless they also have another aspiration. I followed this tradition with my wants, and even predestined hobby won't matter, if a sim is exclusively Grilled Cheese sim.
- Wants can't be rolled when a sim has pretty much fulfilled them already by doing what's required or most parts of what's required, even if those wants were not assigned at the moment. Like, if a sim already has 5 gold badges, the want to gain them won't pop up.
- Non-playables (townies, npcs, etc.) don't fulfill custom wants from this set, although they may have them assigned. Only sims in playable families may actually fulfill them - not necessarily currently controlled, but playable. Bonus Uni career wants are different, although I don't think non-playables can get promoted to fulfill them either.
Unconventional lifetime wants
Some lifetime wants have less obvious fulfillment triggers or complex conditions, so it's sometimes worth reading description text in game. Let me emphasize some of them.
- Wonder Child - triggered by graduating with the highest possible honors (technically, by memory thereof); all other requirements MUST be fulfilled by that point, there won't be another chance.
- Wellness - when you believe you meet all the LTW demands, drink a protein shake (special fridge option from fitness hobby), and it'll be fulfilled. If it doesn't, work on it some more and try drinking a protein shake next time.
- Dance Contest Winner - triggered by winning a dance contest. If you master skills after winning the required amount of contests, you'll have to win another one to trigger the LTW fulfillment.
- Gaming Competitions - triggered by winning a competiotion. It's best to acquire all the games before winning the last one, or you'll have to win one more after finally getting all the games.
- Food Critic - note a list of specific dishes your sim has to eat among other things.
- Self-Employed Talent - triggered by reaching max level business. If you happen to achieve it before gaining the required badges, then later, to trigger the LTW fulfillment, try bringing your buisiness down to rank 9 and getting back to 10 again.
- Mansion - triggered by receiving the perfect score for garden club inspection. Make sure to meet all the other requirements by then, or you'll have to invite the garden club again.
- Robots - triggered by initializing a newly made robot. If your sim isn't married by then, you'll have to turn on another robot. It doesn't matter how the first few robots are added to the family, but the last one must be initialized by the wishing sim to trigger the LTW fulfillment.
Bonus University wants
Also included four lifetime wants for University careers, updated for my setup. Credit goes mostly to Pescado and/or Squinge for extracting/remaking them and the memories, but their files contained extra resources that had to go. I also remade memories' icons and edited one memory's name.
# | name | career | requirements & conditions | notes |
---|---|---|---|---|
1 | Become Cult Leader | Paranormal | University. Knowledge or Popularity aspiration, by default. If you have my edit with LTW Chooser: Knowledge or Popularity with 6+ interest in Paranormal. Elders may roll this want, if they already work in Paranormal. | Combined file named LTW_4UniCareers |
2 | Become Icon | Show Business | University. Popularity aspiration, by default. If you have my edit with LTW Chooser: predestined Film & Literature hobby, or Popularity, Pleasure or Romance with 6+ interest in Entertainment or Culture. Elders may roll this want, if they already work in Show Business. | Combined file named LTW_4UniCareers |
3 | Become Visionary | Artist | University. Romance aspiration, by default. If you have my edit with LTW Chooser: predestined Arts & Crafts hobby, or Romance or Pleasure aspiration with 6+ interest in Culture or Fashion. Elders may roll this want, if they already work in Artist career. | Combined file named LTW_4UniCareers |
4 | Become Ecological Guru | Natural Science | University. Knowledge aspiration, by default. If you have my edit with LTW Chooser: Knowledge with 6+ interest in Environment or Animals, or predestined Nature hobby. Elders may roll this want, if they already work in Natural Science. | Combined file named LTW_4UniCareers |
Warnings
- Do not load your neighborhood without Downloads, or sims will lose custom memories and progress on some LTWs, even if you quit without saving. If you must do it for testing or something, make a backup of your neighborhood beforehand and restore it afterwards. No, your town won't break if you load it without this mod, but your sims will forget how many toys/whatever they have crafted for their LTW and forget what LTWs they even had, as if you've just installed the mod.
- If you want to modify LTW packages, be careful with XWNT resources (Wants XML), or the file will crash the game on loading. To avoid that, you have to either use an old version of SimPE (0.72.1) or some external code editor. Newer versions of SimPE seem to set the wrong encoding to XMLs.
- You may edit the text strings inside the Wants.package, those are names and descriptions of wants. You may have multiple Wants packages in sub-folders or combine all resources in one package (I've merged them to avoid 50 sub-folders). But do not rename the Wants.package itself, or the game won't see it.
- Total Anti-Enthusiasm Global by xptl297 conflicts with my Wellness LTW and possibly a few others. The conflict won't show up in HCDU. If you have that mod, download the updated ltw_support package from here. If you use my LTW Chooser, also get the ltw_chooser from that post. You can keep the Anti-Enthusiasm mod, as long as your sims have ways to develop enthusiasm, since some LTWs are based around hobbies.
- Squinge's NewLTWEnabled. Remove it, since I included lifetime wants for 4 Uni careers in cleaned up and compatible form (Squinge's mod contains all 1000+ wants). If you have replaced those files in Program Files, it's time to restore your backups of the original files. If you don't it's not a big deal, the files in your Downloads will override them anyway, but you might sleep better knowing that everything is where it should be.
- Pescado's Uni+LS Career LTWs (uni_ltws). If you do not care for Life Stories lifetime wants, just remove uni_ltws. Uni careers are covered by my LTW_4UniCareers file. If you want to have Life Stories lifetime wants: 1) remove uni_ltws anyway, 2) download LTW_LSGamedevEntertainment (update_to_LS_ltws) and put it in your LTWs folder (or whatever you renamed it to), 3) add two lifetime wants' IDs into UI Data in the WantTuning package (see the tutorial), 4) make sure you have the careers from MATY (careers by Richi3frog won't do).
- Rio's Firefighter and Social Worker lifetime wants - don't really conflict, but also have WantTuning. Delete Rio's WantTuning and edit my WantTuning to add Rio's wants' IDs there (see the tutorial). The point is to have only one WantTuning package with all the wants in the list.
- PK's Repeatable Made Enemy Memory conflicts with my Enemies LTW. If you want the enemy memory to be repeatable: 1) download a special version of my LTW that has "repeatable" in its filename, 2) remove the other version from my set, 3) remove PK's file. The difference is this. The regular version makes the enemy memory unique per sim, so if sims reconcile and become enemies again the memory won't repeat for that particular enemy. The repeatable version lets enemy memories repeat every time two sims become enemies, so sim A may have multiple enemy memories about sim B.
- Creaturefixes by Pescado (or Midge's edit) conflicts with my Supernatural Combo LTW and Witches LTW. 1) for Supernaturals, make it load after creaturefixes (conflicting werewolf memory fix is included), 2) for Witches, download a patch zzPatch_creaturefixes_WitchLTW and make it load after BOTH creaturefixes and my Witches LTW (creaturefixes makes witches be able to work in an owned business and put items in owner's inventory); 3) put the files in the same folder and/or make a note for yourself not to forget about the load order arrangement.
- Pick'N'Mix's More Witch Craftables conflicts with my Witches LTW. 1) download the patch zzPatch_creaturefixes_WitchLTW (yes, it's the same as for creaturefixes), 2) make it load after BOTH mods, put the files in the same folder and/or make a note for yourself not to forget about the load order arrangement.
- CtfG_EP5_HarvestFaster conflicts with my Gardening LTW. If you want your sims to harvest faster: 1) download a special version of my LTW that has "faster harvest" in its filename, 2) remove the other version from my set, 3) remove CtfG's file. (It was a matter of changing one number.)
- Nopke's Novel Royalty Fixes conflicts with the Food Critic and Novels LTWs. To use them together: 1) download zz_Patch_novelRoyaltyFixes_NovelLTW and/or zz_Patch_novelRoyaltyFixes_FoodCriticLTW, 2) make them load after Nopke's mod and my LTWs, 3) put the files in the same folder and/or make a note for yourself not to forget about the load order arrangement.
- Midge's Sell Great Novel Personal Wealth Fix conflicts with my Novels LTW. Remove Midge's file, since my file also fixes the problem and there's no way to use both files at the same time.
- Severino's Astronomy Mod is not compatible with my Astronomer LTW and can't be easily made compatible without some fiddling. Remove it if you want to use my LTW (or remove the Astronomer LTW and edit it out of the WantTuning package). If you like the random money aspect of the Severino's mod, consider LimeyYoshi's addon to the Astronomer LTW: 1) download zzLimeyYoshi_RandomDiscoveryMoney_lamare-AstronomerLTW, 2) make it load after my LTW.
- Bug box owner as tooltip and shiftable mod by guirnaldas slightly conflicts with a part of my Bug Collection LTW. Make my file load after guirnaldas' and all will work fine. The conflict only affects viewing -- guirnaldas' mod makes it a bit faster -- but 2 seconds are not that important in this case.
- Pick'N'Mix's Social Bug Hunting conflicts with a part of my Bug Collection LTW. To use both: 1) make Pick'N'Mix's mod load after mine, 2) to fulfill the lifetime want make your sims view their bug collection (it won't be fulfilled by catching the last bug).
- Alexx58's Expanded and Reduced LTW conflicts with Uni wants and WantTuning from this set. Remove it if you want to use this set. If you'd like to keep the changed fulfillment requirements (1 top business instead of 5 top businesses and so on), you'll have to edit the WantTuning package I provide or ask someone to edit it for you.
- My own career-types-mutually-satisfy-wants conflicts with the CareeristClan LTW. I uploaded an updated version of career-types-mutually-satisfy-wants, go get it and make it load after the CareeristClan LTW.
- LTW Chooser and LTW Support packages. Not really a conflict, you can use them with these lifetime wants. (I included some needed functions in both files, in case someone downloads only one of these projects.)
- Midge's Supernatural Fans/Skeptics (supernaturalfanskepticmemories) - plantsim, vampire and werewolf memories conflict with my Supernatural Combo LTW. To use both mods: 1) download zzPatch_supernaturalfanskeptic_SuperComboLTW, 2) make it load after BOTH mods, 3) put the files in the same folder and/or make a note for yourself not to forget about the load order arrangement.
- Midge's CC Potions Made Better (betterccpotions-witchescancraft) conflicts with my Witches LTW. To use both mods: 1) download zzPatch_creaturefixes_WitchLTW (yes, it's the same as for creaturefixes), 2) make it load after BOTH mods, 3) put the files in the same folder and/or make a note for yourself not to forget about the load order arrangement.
- Pick'N'Mix's Sims Salary Bonus Scheme (WH_PayBook_C) conflicts with my Job Hopper. To use both mods: 1) download zzPatch_WH_PayBook_C_JobHopperLTW, 2) make it load after BOTH mods, 3) put the files in the same folder and/or make a note for yourself not to forget about the load order arrangement.
- Black_Spirit's Vampires can turn sims into Ghouls (LBFInfluenceZombie+Ghoul) clashes with my Member LTW. That mod is outdated and needs fixing for newer EPs. The influencing system or at least some parts of it will not work properly with it. I won't make patches for it. If you decide to keep it for some reason, my LTW_Influencer must load after LBFInfluenceZombie+Ghoul, otherwise influence actions won't be counted and the lifetime want will never get fulfilled. For that mod this arrangement will mean that influencers will be charged points as usual, but other mod functions won't be affected by the conflict.
- My Vampires LTW will have a "conflict" with any mods that make it possible to bite sims without turning them into a vampire - like just to feed on them, or to kill them, because that will generate the same "bit sim" memory, which will be counted by the LTW as a turned vampire.
- jonasn's Espresso Machine and Barista Improvements conflicts with my Drinks Master LTW. To use both, make my file load after jonasn's, you won't lose much (post #234)
- Vacation Mementos LTW:
- Consider using the special version of Mementos LTW that doesn't conflict with anything, but requires replacing ObjectScripts.package in game files. How to switch:
- download VacationsMementos_ObjScripts for your latest pack (BV/FT/AL/MG),
- put the LTW package with other LTWs in your Downloads,
- remove other version of LTW_VacationsMementos,
- remove all zzPatches that have MementosLTW in their names,
- backup your original ObjectScripts.package found where your latest pack is installed (i.e. C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\The Sims 2 Ultimate Collection\Fun with Pets\SP9\TSData\Res\ObjectScripts),
- replace the ObjectScripts.package with the downloaded version.
If you hate the Mementos LTW and don't want to use the special version with ObjectScripts, consider replacing the file with VacationsOnly version that only has "20 vacations" want. Don't forget to remove the Mementos want reference from the WantTuning package. - SimWardrobe's Employee Digging Controller conflicts with my Vacation Mementos LTW. To use both: 1) download zzPatch_SWdigging_MementosLTW, 2) make it load after BOTH mods (SW's mod lets employees dig and put items in owner's inventory); 3) put the files in the same folder and/or make a note for yourself not to forget about the load order arrangement.
- Simler90's Business Mod conflicts with my Vacation Mementos LTW. To use both: 1) make sure you have AL or M&G, 2) download zzPatch_BusinessMod38_MementosLTW, 3) make it load after BOTH mods (concerns interaction to buy food at vacation stands); 4) put the files in the same folder and/or make a note for yourself not to forget about the load order arrangement. This patch is good for updates 38 and 39, I can't confirm the earlier ones.
- Simler90's Beach Share Discovery Mod conflicts with my Vacation Mementos LTW. To use both: 1) download zzPatch_BeachShareDiscovery_MementosLTW, 2) make it load after BOTH mods (concerns beach combing for seashells); 3) put the files in the same folder and/or make a note for yourself not to forget about the load order arrangement.
- Simler90's Social Auto Mod conflicts with my Vacation Mementos LTW. To use both: 1) make sure you have FT, AL or M&G, 2) download zz_Patch_SocialAutoMod4_MementosLTW, 3) make it load after BOTH mods (concerns serving and drinking tea on tea table); 4) put the files in the same folder and/or make a note for yourself not to forget about the load order arrangement.
- Gummilutt's Tent logic improvements and oh that Vacation Mementos LTW again! What to do: 1) download zzPatch_Tent-SleepTempFix_MementosLTW, 2) make it load after Vacation+Mementos file, 3) remove GummiTent-SleepThroughNight+TempFix (it only has one resource for sleeping in tents and my patch includes it); 3) put the files in the same folder and/or make a note for yourself not to forget about the load order arrangement.
- Slowerfeelings from Midge's version of Romantic Standards conflicts with my Vacation Mementos LTW. To use both: 1) make sure you have AL or M&G, 2) download zz_Patch_RSslowerfeelings_MementosLTW, 3) make it load after BOTH mods (concerns relationships); 4) put the files in the same folder and/or make a note for yourself not to forget about the load order arrangement.
- Pescado's Vacation Fixes clashes with the Mementos LTW. Let VacationsMementos load after vacationfixes and it should be Ok. Pescado's change to the "Sub - Dig Loop" procedure is that it lets uncotrolled vacation pals find things in the sand, but it's no too bad if they can't, I'd say.
- InTeenimater_B and WooHooTeens also clash with Mementos. Try load order. If it loads after my VacationsMementos, the lifetime want may not get fulfilled, as it won't count the friendship with Bigfoot, although it will count if you move the Bigfoot in. If it's the other way around and VacationsMementos loads after InTeenimater_B/WooHooTeens, teens won't receive crush flags toward adults and vice versa (those little hearts on the relationship panel). It will probably mean that interactions that require sims to be in love won't be available to them. Just to be clear, it concerns teen-adult relationships.
- No Instant love by Pescado clashes with Mementos. If it loads after my VacationsMementos, the lifetime want may not get fulfilled, as it won't count the friendship with Bigfoot, although it will count if you move the Bigfoot in. If VacationsMementos loads after noinstantlove, the game will use Maxis rules for assigning crush flags (pink hearts) and use Pescado's rules for love flags (red hearts).
Troubleshooting
- If your game crashes on loading, you've probably edited an XWNT resource in a LTW package and blew it. Redownload the file and all will be fine.
- If you see a #### missing string for <so-and-so ltw> - Wants.package is missing, renamed or lacking a resource with text strings for that particular want. Look in your LTWs/Set1 folder for it.
- If you don't see a certain LTW in game at all - First, make sure you have a related EP (if one is required for that want) and that the sim meets all preconditions for the want to appear. Also, run HCDU to eliminate a conflict with something else in your downloads. If not that, inspect the WantTuning package - UI Data list may be missing a reference for that want or there is a mistake somewhere in the file that leads to things not showing up. If not that, read about Hidden UI Data conflict below.
- If your sim rerolled LTW without notice or lost a custom memory of once fulfilled LTW - means you probably recently loaded the game without CC. Some things get lost when you do that even if you don't save - custom objects from inventories, some mods' data, memories and apparently LTWs. Restore a backup if you have one. If not, clean up all gossip with the batbox just in case. Next time make backups.
- If you see an "unnamed wantable category" iconless want in game, it means there's an inconsistency in WantTuning package: either a missing reference to that object category, or extra reference to a want you don't have in your game. If you have M&G, check that you downloaded the right version. M&G file has two additional categories that AL version doesn't have. Then look at the <lifetimeWants> list and find a want that doesn't belong. You might have removed an LTW and forgot to delete the reference from WantTuning package. Also check for conflicts, you may have another mod that overrides it. If nothing helps, redownload the package and start from there.
- If something weird happens and you have a lot of mods and custom content, a conflict is likely, even without showing up in conflict detection programs. 50/50 method might help.
- If your sim doesn't get a lifetime want after using LTW Chooser (it is blank) - check that the want's ID is present in the WantTuning package (UI Data) and that there aren't any IDs of wants that you don't have in the list. If something is wrong in that package, the game may have trouble reading it correctly. If not that, read about Hidden UI Data conflict below.
- Hidden UI Data conflict. If you can't get these LTWs to show up, you may have another WantTuning package that overrides mine. It may not have this name, the actual internal resource is called UI Data (group 0xCDA53B6F, instance 0x2D7EE26B). Some mods include this resource and you may not realize it. If HCDU and SiMidge don't catch this conflict you'll have to search for it manually. I would suggest 50/50 method, but first try this, to confirm the problem. Make a backup of your The Sims 2 folder in Documents, remove all CC and mods except for this set and load up the game. If the problem is solved you'll know that there really is a conflict and will be able to start looking for it. Restore a backup after you're done testing and remove the found culprit. Or, if you don't want to go through all this, move the WantTuning package to a location that will make it load an absolute last. The root Downloads folder might work. This way the right resource will take effect and your problem will be solved. Make some kind of text note for yourself to remember where everything is.
Contents of LTW bundles
- Set 1 - a folder with LTW packages of wants and memories described in the huge table above.
- AL and MG versions have all 50 ltws in 42 files. FT version has 47 - in 40 files. And BV has 35 lifetime wants in 32 files.
- Wants.package - a combined file with names and descriptions of all 50 wants.
- LTW_4UniCareers - 4 bonus wants for University careers with memories.
- WantTuning.package - UI Data list of lifetime wants and other things.
- AL and MG versions have 91 LTWs listed: 37 original, 4 uni and 50 mine. FT version has all but 3 of the new LTWs. BV version has 32 maxis, 4 uni and 35 new lifetime wants from this set. None of the versions include other custom LTWs or Life Stories ones.
- ltw_support - some needed supporting functions and uninstaller cube.
- Cube's polycount is lower than 10 or something. It references an in-game placeholder model. Texture is mine.
Additional mods from elsewhere
- CJ-BugCollectionFix - to be able to complete bug collection (crucial fix).
- CJ-ButlerAsksToFire - useful to complete Mansion LTW - fixes an issue that if you let butler fire maid and gardener you can't hire them again.
- Lifetime Want Chooser - lets you manually choose a lifetime want for your sim.
- veetie_InterestAgeMod - makes sim's interests more varied when randomized, despite their age. For example, it gives adults a chance to have a high interest in animals or toys without reading a magazine. Some of my lifetime wants require a certain interest level to be available.
- Simler90's Influence Talk Fix - fixes a glitch that makes the Influence>Talk social give error sometimes.
- Personal Trainer Fix - fixes an issue that exercise equipment sometimes doesn't let a sim to be a personal trainer due to an attribute not being properly cleared after previous use.
- ltw_icons_fixed - resized and edited icons for lifetime wants and some memories from Pets, Seasons and Free Time, to reduce visual glitches.
- Hobby Lot Visitors Membership Fix - may be useful for the Member LTW, so that friends you make on hobby lots have appropriate memberships.
- Poker - Skill Based Nuances - gives you a way to improve at poker and work on your skills, rather than relying on luck, may be useful for Poker LTW.
- Dance Skill Fix - to be able to max out hidden dance skill by dancing to stereo.
- LimeyYoshi's Random Discovery Money - to get random amount of money for discovering stars and planets. Use alongside the Astronomer LTW.
- Assign Be DJ Teen Fix - to enable teens to work as DJs on certain lots (haven't tried this one myself, might be outdated)
- LTW Tracker for Lamare's 50 new LTWs by kestrellyn - a hacked painting that lets you track your progress towards achieving new lifetime wants
- WantTuning Edits:
- Meduza's M&G version w/o 8 wants - removed VacationsMementos, Wellness, RestoredCars, SelfEmployedTalent, Teacher, BugCollection, FoodCritic and Mansion.
- SillySoraya's edits for lazy sims (M&G/UC version) - maxis and custom LTWs with lowered amounts
- oceansmotion's edits (for M&G/UC)
hunt_bugs_in_diff_hoods - makes bugs hunting more challenging. Depending on the number of attached neighborhoods, it won't let you catch more than a certain amount of new specimens in one area, you'll have to travel to complete your collection.
