Prototype AI Trait
"Prototype AIs boast impressive processing power and a wide array of Sim-like Emotions. However, the experimental technology behind them is prone to failure; a wide array of Malfunctions are always just around the corner."
This is a custom Trait that aims to turn your Sim into a fully sentient, emotive and highly efficient artificial intelligence. Watch out though- there are plenty of custom "malfunction" debuffs to worry about.

Benefits
Malfunctions
In addition to the rather hefty upsides, there are downsides to picking this trait, in the form of Malfunctions. I'm not going to spoil what they all are here, instead providing an overview of what to expect.

Thanks for staying with me as I ramble and describe my custom Trait. I'm open to suggestions as far as similar Traits, or ideas of how to better balance this one. I'm happy with how it turned out, but I'm sure it could be better with a little feedback!

Background and rambling
This is something I've been working on for a few days, and been thinking about for much longer. I'm a pretty big fan of sci-fi, and miss Plumbots and Servos greatly. But there's already excellent custom content that brings back Servo, and modeling and such is way out of my scope. Seeing captainkyokyo's Robot and AI Traits, as well as a handful of robotic custom content listed later in this post, inspired me to create my own Trait. I wasn't content with just giving flat bonuses to Sims with the trait to reflect robotic efficiency. I wanted to throw in some downsides to consider, and to make playing with the Trait more dynamic, interesting and challenging. The first incarnation of this trait included one debuff which had a 30% chance of activating every day, which stopped all skill gain and doubled decay rates. For 24 hours. Ouch. Not only was that way too harsh, it was just too much of a challenge, and not fun at all, which I only realized after prematurely uploading. Woops, lesson learned. I experimented with when the debuffs should trigger, added a total of 7 unique debuffs, and spent time balancing the Trait to be fun, challenging and dynamic, with clear ups and downs. It's still a very powerful trait, in my opinion, but with the addition of malfunctions I feel it's a bit more believable and rewarding to play. So here it is!
Benefits
- Sim's Bladder, Hygiene and Hunger motives do not decay over time
- Sim's Energy decays at 75% the normal rate
- Sim learns all skills 20% faster by default
- Sim's autonomy is a combination of Geek and Genius traits
Malfunctions
In addition to the rather hefty upsides, there are downsides to picking this trait, in the form of Malfunctions. I'm not going to spoil what they all are here, instead providing an overview of what to expect.
- While there are no passive downsides to the trait, there is a chance that Malfunctions will occur
- The chance is 25% every 10 in-game hours
- There are 7 distinct Malfunctions in total
- All Malfunctions are a +3 negative Emotion and last 6 hours
- The effects of Malfunctions are explained in-game when active
Issues
- While the Trait should not conflict with any others note that installing too many custom Traits at once is known to cause issues
- Sim's respective Motives still decay when performing activities such as exercising or drinking coffee
- This trait was intended to have associated Whims but the XML file containing them is not recognized by S4PE
- As this Trait does not use custom icons some of the icons may seem out of place or be replaced with a placeholder
- Sim still ages, can reproduce, etc because this is simply a Trait and not a Life State
