You don't need to post a picture - your work is easily viewable through your profile on MTS - so don't worry about that.

Because it is fun to do something all together. Moms with children, teachers with students and I think judges with participants too.

Conflict of interest. Judges would have to judge their own builds.

Huh? Of course, judges are usually someone who is more qualified then participants but that was not meant for them just to sit and judge.
Like you never seen judges to sing with their stage participants in American Idol?

I think Catherine knows what she doin' when say "judges will be chosen by host" let's see how things will turn.
I am a participant. Never judged. And I am fine.

All good - I just wanted to say that most hosts will have a play-along, and judges can play along.

I judged a contest because the host asked me too, and then my own because one of my judges dropped out - but I want to be a contestant too. I feel that I have learned such a lot from being a judge and want to see if it makes a difference now.

Ah I see. I never judged.
But if I will, I'll listen more to other judges. Because if you don't know how to do something, better start with copying.

I think one of the things judging taught me is to be more objective when it comes to my own lots - step back a bit, looking at them as if I was going to judge them - making it a lot easier to notice what is actually wrong and what is actually right. (Oh, Petro, that may be a very exotic piece of landscaping, but it looks out of place here)!

How is that similar? The judges aren't being judged for their singing if they sing along.

I find it's easy to be satisfied with what I've built while I'm working at it, but if I want to know if it's really good enough, the best thing is to start taking screenshots of every room and angle as if I'm about to upload them for all to see - that's when I find out something looks very out of place, or an area is completely blank and boring when I look from the other direction.

I'm so glad I was taking screenshots for reference while I was building today. Which window looks better, this one or that? A screenshot of each so I can evaluate the effect side by side. And then the power went out - I had not saved a single time in my building session and lost everything! Luckily the roof I'd worked so hard over had been caught in the most recent screenshot, so I was able to recreate it easily once the power came back on.

CatherineTCJD, I had a few questions
Quote:
BONUSes: Awarded once per round

Does that mean only one participant gets 5 points for not using cc even if seven of us build cc-free that round?

Also, I'm overthinking this so please let me know if I'm way off base... I can approach each round/lot as if
A. the sim buying the lot flips houses for a living (Flip It)
B. the sim buying the lot is going to live there (Fix It)
and I just choose A or B based on how much I like the house?

And then continuing to overthink it, a flipped house is going to be impersonal and clutter-free, with neutral colors and staged with 'place-holder' furniture (not much personality) so that potential buyers can imagine themselves living there. I would take screenshots as if they are realtor photos and my sim is going to list the house on Zillow
But will the lack of color and little details look like I didn't spend enough time?

Any help is appreciated, thank you!

The best thing is to build in such cases faster because the memory for items is short.

When we built Trio Lake with frodo it was funny sometimes. They sent me a lot and I found a time anomaly. When sims lived there time went slower then usually. Nobody said what had caused that. I left confused and wrote: It's okay I rebuild it from scratch. So yeah, I took pictures, rebuilt entirely, tile-to-tile with things be the same and whatever, sent them back to ask for opinion and they said: It's not my lot! When asked how come they said that just fergot who ever in this world built those lot.

No. Each contestant who builds CC-Free for that round will get a 5 point bonus. But... not from each judge. Just a flat 5 points. One time.
You can get the bonus for each of your 3 entries... but only one bonus per round.

Yeah... I was overthinking, myself, when I first was figuring out how to present/score this contest.
Originally I was going to have there be a value difference for either "Fixing" or "Flipping" and let the Market decide it's value... but that was way too convoluted to score fairly. And with CC... budgeting goes right out the window. So it is probably a mis-named contest, but the logo was already designed. *sigh*
So... the fixing or flipping mindset doesn't really play into it - unless that helps YOU to think of how to reno the houses.
Basically: just redo the house and make sure you meet the terms/goals for each property. And have FUN with it!

DO take pictures as though you are a Zillow Realtor - that is a great idea!
And maybe - to help the Judges see your vision - you could explain that you flipped it for an easy re-sell, or decorated it to live there.
That is a very good point.
And I will remind the Judges of that point - when it comes to judging the WOW factor (creativity.) Because there are definitely two different approaches there; and both are valid.
Thank you for bringing that up.

YES! LOL - I was just leaving a comment on your upload.
I will add you to our list of contestants. You will need to do an "Entry" post in this thread too - with one big picture, and the others behind a spoiler. Be sure to include the necessary pictures as outlined in the OP/contest rules. And make sure you've met all the terms/goals for this round.
YAY!!! Our first reno! .

Please add a [spoiler] around all but your first picture.
You just put that ^ at the front of the first picture, and then a closing one at the end, /spoiler, inside the square brackets.
Thank you!

You can add a text for the spoiler, too

[ Spoiler ]what's inside the spoiler[ /spoiler ]

"Spoiler about X" version
[ Spoiler=spoiler text ]what's inside the spoiler[ /spoiler]

(Just remember to remove the spaces inside the brackets to make it work )

It also helps readability if you leave a blank line between images, like this . . .

You are welcome! And thank YOU for fixing your post.
AndrewGloria is right too - his suggestion to put an extra line between pictures is an eye-saver for the Judges.

HEADS UP everyone... I have lengthened the Judging time to 4 days.
We have so many contestants (YAY!) that they couldn't possibly see everything in 48 hours! I want to be sure the Judges will have enough time to do "justice" with each entry.
Timing is tight, I know, but hopefully you will still have a few days between seeing your score for the previous round and submitting your next entry.

ETA: We have 3 Judges! WOOT!!!
...we still need an Emergency Judge, if you've been lurking and haven't said anything yet. *hint, hint*
