Robert Downey Jr. was born in Greenwich Village, New York City, on April 4, 1965. Son of underground filmmaker Robert Downey Sr. He played his first role in his fathers "Pound", in 1970. He was 5-years-old and played the part of a puppy. When he was 20-years-old he joined "Saturday Night Live", in 1985 for one season. Moved to Hollywood and landed the lead role in "The Pick-up Artist", in 1987, co-starring with Molly Ringwald. Went on to other roles such as "Less Than Zero", "Chaplin", for which he received an Academy Award nomination for "Best Actor". Guest Starred in "Ally McBeal" for which he won the GoldenGlobe for "best supporting actor in a comedy series"...(and of course "Ironman!")
Let us know that he could sing as well as act when he sang Joni Mitchell's "River", and sang a duet with Vonda Shepard,"Chances Are". Also sang with Sting, "Every Breath You Take." Then released one song of his own, "Snakes," on the Ally McBeal album "For Once in My Life." Then a full album of his own work entitled "The Futurist" in 2005.
