This is a community lot I built for my apocalypse hood.
Pasted from my starter community lots upload:
Phaenoh's version of the Apocalypse Challenge requires community lots, where sims have to 'apply' for their careers, and where the restrictions for that career are relaxed temporarily. The idea is that your neighbourhood will be gradually built up, from a wasteland to a functioning town, as the restrictions are lifted. The challenge also divides the careers into three tiers. All of the careers for Tier 1 have to be lifted before you can start on Tier 2. Lots are allowed to flout restrictions for the career/s they represent. As careers are lifted, lots should be built or upgraded to fit the more relaxed rules.
Phaenoh provided some beginning lots herself, and linked suitable ones made by others, in her information thread. There are many great lots there already.
However, most apocalypse lots rely very heavily on custom content to get 'the look'. I wanted to see what could be done with EA content. Many of them are also very large. I prefer smaller lots, so I can see what is happening and my computer is happier.
Now, this particular lot:
The building has seen better days. Much of the paint has been blasted off the exterior walls, although the worst holes have been mended with whatever materials came to hand. The carpets are very patchy, and it's probably best not to speak of the bathrooms. But the station is still in use! The local police force has even been augmented by 'specialists' from out of town, who do very little patrolling, but a lot of interviews.
The ground floor has reception and the interview room (with observation cubbyhole), a public toilet, and target practice on the other side of the driveway. The upper floor hosts a workout room close to the showers, a break area with kitchenette and a couple of tables, and the main office where the paperwork gets done...if it ever does.
If you are playing the challenge, this is a Tier 2 lot. Precinct 51 covers the Law Enforcement, Athletic and Intelligence careers (I swapped Athletic and Architecture, so Athletic is in Tier 2 now - feel free to redecorate if you want it different).
This lot has been shrunk, so the outer walls are closer to the edge of the lot than is usual. If you wish to alter the building, you will probably also need to use the LotAdjuster to do so. (Wall coverings are not affected, so repaint as much as you like.)
Precinct 51 is a 2x1 lot, CC-free. The lot has one hidden pool tile, to enable water-shading mods. A copy of the lot has been fully tested by my sims.
Note - the diagonal chair in the interview room is just decorative, despite all my attempts. Everything else should be fully usable.
I have included a picture of the station pre-apocalypse, so you can see how it was in it's hey-day.
Extra Credits:
Thanks to Pinstar, Phaenoh and the many others who have updated and redesigned the Apocalypse Challenge over the years.
Thanks to Sophie-David and others, for making career rewards and game accessories buyable. Useful for decorating lots!
Created with all EPs and SPs except the holiday packs.
Created using Numenor's AnyGameStarter (UC version).
Shrunk by Mootilda's LotAdjuster.
The external design of Precinct 51 was inspired by Jo's police station: http://modthesims.info/d/547678/min...re-station.html
I use a number of defaults and neighbourhood deco which you may see in screenshots.
Lot Size: 2x1
Lot Price (furnished): n/a

- You may want to use the Sims2Pack Clean Installer instead of the game's installer, which will let you install sims and pets which may otherwise give errors about needing expansion packs. It also lets you choose what included content to install. Do NOT use Clean Installer to get around this error with lots and houses as that can cause your game to crash when attempting to use that lot. Get S2PCI here: Clean Installer Official Site.

About Me
One of the best things about the Sims 2 community is the generosity of so many people, who make things, write tutorials and generally encourage everyone to get the most out of the game. I have benefited enormously from the work and advice of many others, and I thank them for their time and effort.
If you like my work, remember to hit the Thanks button. It's nice to feel appreciated. Constructive feedback is also welcome - I can't fix it if I don't know it's broke.
Please enjoy my creations, and keep it free!
