I have written up 4 now and realized that I am saying this on every comment. Also no tilted on its sides pictures.

I love this judge

PLEASE folks - DO THIS. I've said it before, and I'll say it again: Judges can't judge what they can't see.
The contest rules say to take as many floor plan pictures as you need to fully show your build. Don't skimp on those pictures.
And you can take 20 "other" pictures. This is your chance to show off! Show every great little nook and cranny.

I'll get my scores in today, just have to do a few of the latest entries first (thought we were still waiting for a couple late entries )

Since they haven't posted... I'd guess they decided not to? But, if they post late, we will work them into the scoring.

Thanks, Petro!

Something's going on with all of these glasses and bottles. Like I am trying to drink but I dunno what I am touching and is that a glass or a bottle. Is there a liquid and is it even inside of a vessel.
I feel spaggetified. Like inside of Black hole.

Thank you I will make a concerted effort to get stuck into judging today. For some reason I thought the round wasn't ending until the end of this week! My bad.

Thanks
I just tallied up two of the judges score cards - still waiting on one judge...

PLEASE REMEMBER - the Real Estate market is very fickle. Your Fix/Flip bonus is decided by the three judges - if 2 of them say you get it, then you get it. If 2 of them say you don't, *sigh* then... you don't. I can tell you right now there are those that got it, and those that didn't.
(And several are standing at 1 for Y, and 1 for N - waiting for the third judge to settle the score.)

I am so glad I just have to wrangle the cats this time. Judging is sooooo hard!

Default Round One Play-Along : Downtown 'Crack' House

Archie Forsyth is greeting Ravi Bertino, while Bernice Proudfoot is telling Graeme Macsporran a joke about ghosts.

If you haven’t read it already, it probably makes sense to first read my previous post in this thread which helps to explain how I am approaching this build:

I'm not sure if I completely understand the "fix or flip" rules, but, as an unofficial "play-along", I reckon I can interpret them to suit myself and my Sims. I want a house that can be used in my game. For my game there is little point in building §100,000+ mansions, as hardly any of my Sims could ever afford to buy such an edifice. So I decided to makeover the house to a price-point within the reach of most of my Sims. My aim was to meet all the requirements, while, if possible, keeping the price below §20K -- certainly not going far above that figure.
I believe I have succeeded in meeting all the requirements, while keeping the price under §20K. So I reckon this is a "fix" rather than a "flip".

I understand that "Crack House" usually means a place where crack cocaine and other narcotics are bought and sold. To the best of my knowledge nothing of that sort is going on in downtown Veronaville. But in Ireland, Scotland and northern England, the word "crack" can also mean entertaining conversation. I'm using the word in this more innocent sense.

Cat's download house was made with Mansions & Gardens, so I can't open it in my game (highest EP OFB). So I had to build it from scratch using Cat's pictures as a guide. I think I got the size and position of the house more or less right. My pond is different but in roughly the right place. As a mere play-along I have decided to use limited CC, and makeover the house with Andrew, using much the same approach as Andrew and I usually use when building new houses for Veronaville Sims. Andrew's firm (Jones & Moltke Ltd.) seldom builds expensive houses, as very few Veronavillians could ever afford to buy them.

So this is the Downtown 'Crack' house as we have made it over. It's in downtown Veronaville, just across the road from P.U.R.E.

Most of the pictures have been taken in Live Mode after some Sims have moved into the house. This gets rid of the problem of grid lines, but means there are often icons in the top left corner, showing my Sims' actions. Normally I try to edit pictures I post here to remove these icons, but I left them in here, as I thought there was rule against editing pictures after taking them. (But I can't find any such rule!)

The Future , , ,
With Sims living in it, this is more than a house -- it is a home. It's not just there for this contest. It is primarily there for the Sims who live there. And I'm sure they will make their mark on the house.

A number of issues have emerged over the two Sim days I've been playing this house. In consultation with my Sims, I'll try to address them:

I think the biggest issue is the congestion in the kitchen, which is caused by Sims standing and eating just inside the kitchen door. I think the answer is to demolish part of the end wall, making it into a food preparation area within the enlarged open plan area rather than a kitchen as a separate room. Like this:

Provided the boys agree, I propose to demolish the parts of the end kitchen wall marked with the wiggly orange line. If I first remove the door and the wall coverings on both sides, this should free up a bit of money, which can be used for more interesting things.

Another possible problem is the Creeping Ivy Trellis at the right hand side of the entrance area(circled in red in the above picture), which I placed there to cover a section of wall that was showing up in an odd sort of pinkish colour. See my post in the Random Questions thread, and the following 7 or 8 posts, which include replies by simmer22 and Charity.. Also see the old (2016) thread that Charity linked to. It seems that in some circumstances, that innocuous-looking shrub can cause Sims to overheat and spontaneously combust. It's highly unlikely in my game, as I have Squinge's No More Fires mod, but it's just possible that I might share this house (if anybody wants it), and I don't want to have the death of somebody else's Sims on my conscience. So I think I'll replace that ivy trellis with one of mustluvcatz's Creeping Ivies.

There is also the problem that Graeme had of having to do his homework squatting in a parch of prickly pear cactus, because he couldn't get into the house. This can be fixed by adding a back door to the house.

In the longer term they will probably improve the area beside the pond, and maybe build a small extension onto the back of the house. This might be used to house three or four money trees, which is how independently living teens in my game, often get a regular income. If you ask them what they do, they'll tell you that they work in "financial forestry".

All Sims are beautiful -- even the ugly ones.

Default Entry Round 2 Riverblossom Hills Ranch(less?)
No custom content
Everything should be playable - all plants can be accessed.
The charming stone walls were kept and one bathroom therefor has one charming stone wall inside.
(The Roof? The Roof was hit by a Hammer).
The wraparound porch - well.... it IS still kind of there?

(When a socialite with a bit of a bohemian family moves to Riverblossom Hills, the hood is going to be changed a bit. Just a bit. As she told the contractor: I don't want it to look like a Christmas tree but make sure it looks good. And remember I am trying to get into the Garden Club, my kids have hobbies (one writes, one paints) and the the other half also likes to paint when he has a chance).

Welcome to the brand new home in the hills!

Take the tour with the happy socialite and the (perhaps a bit hungover) contractor:
