Quick question about the Strangetown Adobe house - The rules say the outer adobe walls must remain. Does that mean the tunnel and shack can be removed, since they aren't adobe? I'd assumed so, but now I'm nervous!

Uuuuuhm... well... I had meant for the tunnel to stay - with it's windows into the pool as a "feature", but the front shack is deffo NOT Adobe/clay on purpose. (It is safe to destroy/redo/whatever.)

I am the one comparing and awarding points for maintaining what needs to be kept of the original builds. So, if you took away the tunnel completely, you will probably loose a point (from the 10 I award... but you are right - I didn't specify those particular walls. Only the Adobe ones.)

I will read carefully once I'll have much time.
I feel careless because my pattern like "read comments-learn-not repeat in next build" is not working here. No no no. No good.

I am not ready for the second round. My house is unfinished. If I won't post my house on time you may skip me, I am fine. If I will, then I'll post it unfinished.

Here you can see more of my creations and conversions for sims 3. ;) I`ll glad to see your comments in.

BTW - I absolutely LOVE the 2-Step foundation with basement, and CFE work you did.
And... did you know... about the 'wonky' upper walls in the silo/tower...
If the floor and ceiling (of that wonky wall) are completely CFE'd flat, and it still shows the wonkiness,
all you have to do is sledge-hammer that wall piece, and hit undo (Ctrl-Z) - and it should come back perfectly straight.

TIles are not completely flat at ceilings. Somehow straight pattern doesn't work for these walls. I could have put vertical ones there

Naaw that's fine. I followed those pictures of silos from New Zealand.

I should have changed it a little bit. But I was too sleepy already to catch the wall that looks uneven.

Dang it

Round 2 House - Crack House

The house has been renovated to have 3 bedrooms and an office/bedroom 4. It has an en suite to the Master bedroom with a dressing room and a family shower room. There is a half bathroom on the ground floor. A garage has been added and the grounds have been extensively landscaped with the pond enlarged and planted. Siding has been added to the exterior to cover up the dilapidated walls. The roof has been reroofed and the windows have been replaced. In fact the whole house was gutted.

Replaced with vertical siding. And added the price info.
Half of hour to do that, but still feel anxious and exhaused.

Default Round Two Entry - Strangetown Adobe Compound
New to Strangetown, Elliott Taylor got tired of the stereotypes and used his court settlement (don't ask) to finance his move. Not only does he believe in aliens and UFOs, he wants to be abducted. Badly. Elliot is a dreamer and hopes to find his own Pollination Technician, fall in love, and they both return to Earth and live happily ever after. But he's also on board with the usual: probing and mpreg. He'll take whatever he can get, Elliot is lonely. Dear Watcher he is so lonely.

Elliott has so much love to give! His best friend / rescue dog (Barrymore) inspired him to open P.T. Pets. He's just getting started and learning a lot about running a home business (e.g. the commercial counters, pet collar display, and community trash cans he wanted to use just aren't ~available~ we weren't expecting that but okay). His former hometown instilled a love of Art Deco design and also taught him how to be awarded financial compensation so he splashed out on his new home and pet shop.

This hilariously long and skinny lot was so fun to play with, I never thought of a 1x5! I used Mootilda's LotAdjuster twice; first to use halfwalls instead of a fence around the sloped basement tiles and then again when I realized the shop should be eight tiles wide. The lot is cc-free and I also used CFE to add a dummy floor on the shop: not ground-breakingly "Wow" Factor but I'm so impressed with everyone's skills I thought I'd mention it
Thanks to CatherineTCJD for such a creative lot and goals!

Visually bedroom in basement looks nice with walls up, but when you play with those steep ground cliffs and walls down it looked more like a grave to me. I went with same concept in my Queenslander but I felt that not right when playtest it. I am curious if you or anyone ever felt the same way.

*puff, puff* I'm building hard here - realised my contractor had advised me erroneously about which walls were structural (thanks to those who went before for making mistakes I can learn from!), woke up with a bright idea which sent me down a dead end, returned to a previous version of the lot and am hoping to get it turned in on time or with not too much of a late penalty.

I'm so amazed by everyone else's renovations and wish I could be spending more time admiring them! Thank you very much to the judges for liking my robot shop - I honestly thought I was outclassed by several other entries in the first round and did not at all expect the highest score.

This round was a bit of a weird one for me. I started renovating the Belladonna lot, but quickly realized I started that way too late to be able to finish. It's huge! So that's probably going to be my round 3. Meanwhile, I needed to pivot to one of the other lots. Well, I definitely don't have the guts to take on the Strangetown Adobe Compound so that meant the Riverblossom Hills Ranch or Bluewater Village Vintage Verandahs. I played around with the Riverblossom lot, and I quite like the idea of adding a garage or barn, but when doing so, it made the yard feel really small to me--I had wanted to make the lot a big farm. And so I was left with Bluewater Verandahs! IDK how the Historical Society feels about a farm popping up in the middle of town, but there weren't any zoning laws against it, so here we go!

The lot is now a 3 Bedroom, 2 and a half bath, with a greenhouse and orchard. The garage was extended since I couldn't add a second story--the garage was ever so slightly off from being able to connect to the road (I'm starting to see a trend here, ). So I moved it down. Now you can place the driveway and have sims drive into and out of the garage, though note it has NOT been placed, since lot is meant to be used with an invisible driveway but this is no cc for the extra points. The back half of the garage is now a bunkhouse for extra farmhands with private rooms and a shared bath. The bunk living room has a tv, in case the staff prefer more modern entertainment, though there is also a basketball hoop outside, and they can lift weights in the garage. Speaking of the garage, there's space for a workstation and a washer/dryer, in case owners don't want staff to use the main house laundry room, off the stairs. Exclamation points show where the hook ups go. Finally, since the yard had a ton of space, I added a pond--seemed like a better addition for this house than a pool. New owners can enjoy fishing in their own back yard and really live off the land.

As for the background building stuff--I didn't change too much to the house this time, just rearranged the insides. But since rules didn't say the verandahs couldn't be changed, like with the Riverblossom Ranch, I swapped out the fencing and flooring on the verandahs and added some bump outs on the second floor to give the bedrooms closets and the master bath more space. Definitely stared at that one a bit, trying to figure out how to add on to the bath without removing walls, but I think it works! The extra walls/odd rooms go with a older/historical house like this one. This is also why I closed off the dining room on the first floor and left the kitchen separated as well. Living room is still a good size, but now it's open to the back door and instead the dining room is it's own separate room. I thought a formal, separated dining room make more sense with an older house like this one. Plus this gives the front door an entry way, setting of the space from the rest of the house. I also changed the siding and roof color, but lot should still give off older farmhouse vibes.

The lot was lightly tested--all items should be functional/useable. Food processor was placed with the Numenor's SEP so it's functional even if SEP isn't installed. Sims can play piano without blocking anyone (including playing for tips), basketball court and master bedroom chairs can be used on diagonals. Weight machine in the garage also has no routing issues. A 'Water Inaccessible Plants' mod will probably be needed, though. I think that's it! It feels like I have too many pictures, but Cat you did say as many floor plan pictures as needed, right? Let me know if I have too many.

Good luck everyone. I'm still reviewing some of the round 1 entries, but everyone submitted some really cool stuff!

I have posted some pictures of changes made in my play-along entry in the Pictures sub-forum. I thought of posting it here, but the Pictures sub-forum allows me to post some of the pictures "unspoilered". I don't have time to proof-read it this morning, so the post probably contains some dreadful howlers.

Hello, I agree about basements, they are gloomy! It's hard to take pictures and actually playing an inhabited lot with a basement is kind of frustrating for me.
Speaking of your Queenslander basement, do the 4 interior steps with the 'shelf' steps work? Do sims just 'transport' upstairs to the porch *poof*? I think I remember seeing that it's possible but it might have been 18 years ago. I love all the blue you used
