Yeah. This happens. The main reason however that I have to be now off from my PC with game. Love you all too. I will be here to watch your lovely buildings. Cherish your parents and siblings. They need you around as they are alive.

Here you can see more of my creations and conversions for sims 3. ;) I`ll glad to see your comments in.

Default Round 3 Entry
For my last entry, I renovated Belladonna Cove Courtyard. I happen to be renovating my Belladonna Cove, creating a bunch of homes and community lots for each sub neighborhood, so with this one I made it a mall and filled it with a bunch of things on my personal Belladonna To Do list, that I don't already have in other lots.

Bellaview Commons is affectionately known as "the Mom's Mall" by the locals, but don't be fooled--there's stuff to do for sims of all ages and genders! Stop by for lunch or coffee in the Conservatory while the kids play games in the arcade, or wander through the shops, including our famous bridal showroom. Brides to be can try on dresses for friends and family while enjoying a glass or two of nectar. There's even a photography studio if you're ready to take your wedding photos. But admittedly, yes, moms do love the 2nd floor spa, with it's sauna, spa baths, tanning bed, and massage room.

Fun Facts about the lot:
-Sims are still sims, so they can and will dance in the middle of the restaurant. Didn't seem to impact routing though.
-Sims will also dine outside, especially in the cafe area in front of the barista. Didn't really intend that, but, eh, it is covered and has nice atmosphere, if I say so myself...
-Sims will barge into private areas like the kitchen and spa tub rooms. This is why a door was placed to the kitchen, instead of an arch, btw--if that gets too annoying, I'm going to start locking doors.
-Servers (the lot spawns three!) will clean the tubs in the spa. During my testing, one of the servers was a bit of a neat freak and was always popping up to clean the tub the second someone left it.
-Sims can eat with the umbrella on the table, though I might have a centerpiece mod that affects this.
-All shops except the purse shop have at least one functional stand where sims can make a purchase. (I used a lot of functional jewelry stands by DeeDee.) I did lightly test to make sure all stands, clothing racks, chairs, etc. are functional and/or reachable. (This is why the cafe tables are placed a square away from the arches--between the columns and the hanging lights, sims needed more room to route properly. Otherwise they see those objects as in the way. MustLuvCatz's wall planters didn't seem to have any affect on routing in the Conservatory, oth.
-It is hard to get sims to actually pose in the photo studio, but that's due to a lack of a 'Go Here' option. The backdrop I used makes it so you get 'View Item' or 'View Many' on the floor, so yeah, that's annoying. But considering that I put extra props (flowers and chairs) in the room, for use with a build/buy enabler, I'll probably just pick up sims and put them in the room until I can find a mod to help with this.
-Garland on the cafe columns was placed with OMSPs and does bleed though to the second floor, but it doesn't seem to affect routing and I tried to place items on top of it so it doesn't show anyway.
-The kitchen has two sinks, two dishwashers, one trash compactor and a sprinkler (in front of the stove--it's very hard to see) in case someone needs to pull a prank
-Sometimes the columns connecting to the walls are not lit up properly and show as darker than the rest. It was hard to keep it connected and get the right shadows, so I left them as is. I think some pictures might also show a gap between the first floor and the columns, but that's because I've got a mod to make the floor edges invisible so I can add them manually. ...Which I did not do for this lot.
-In case anyone is wondering there's no suit shop in this lot because I'm still figuring out what combo of cc would best accomplish this. (I have plenty of suit-wearing mannequins, but not a lot of clothing racks appropriate for suits and tuxes, so suit shop was purposely left for another lot for another day.) Instead I put some shops in for teens on the second floor, with the thinking that they'd browse there while mom was off at the spa or looking at purses or something. The shelves in both of those shops are meant to be a jean wall (think GAP or Old Navy), in case it's hard to see. I know they're very dark.
-The shelves in the Salon are filled with hair product deco--shampoos, etc. meant for sims to buy the products used to do their hair. I know there isn't a shot of behind the counter, so mentioning it in case any judges are wonderin'.
-Considering where this lot will go in my hood, I'd say the Clevelands would be my ideal sim family shopping here and the Cordials could take some girls trips to the spa, too.

I think that's everything! It's a big lot so there were a ton of layout pics. Let me know if I have too many. (Anyone else take pictures, think they get really close, then when they upload realize everything's so far away...) Good luck everyone! I'm looking forward to going back and seeing everyone's entries.

@CatherineTCJD , I stayed up til 4 in the morning trying to finish and only got around 3/4 done. Memorial weekend is nothing but graduations, graduation parties, and family bbq's where I live. Woke up so far in the afternoon today that I still need to finish my decorating and take screenshots. That timer went off around 6 or 7 a.m. on a Sunday morning. Sheesh.

@Vic-TOR , so sorry that things have gone badly for you and your family.

Default Round 3 - Belladonna Cove Courtyard

Welcome to Newbie Academy, the newest prestigious private high school in the northwest. Do you need somewhere for your young genius' gifts to grow? Look no further. Come, let's take a tour.

I hope you've enjoyed your tour, and that you'll consider applying for a spot for your young ones this coming fall! Goodbye!

Well that was a bit silly, but I kept imagining this pompous Dean of Students character the whole time I was building this - which has been for quite awhile now, as this was actually the one I started on first! It was pretty tricky to fit everything into the allotted 20 extra pictures, so I hope I've chosen okay. Oh, I've just realized I forgot to say further up that all the "school fire alarm" thingies are functional smoke alarms, the fire siren thingies that go above the doors are all classroom controllers for the simbology school mod, and the "food drive" signs are all crowd controllers from the same mod. And you really have to disable the autonomy on all the Opportunity Pack stuff or your sims will get obsessed and run off out of their simbology mod classes to hear someone lecture about math, haha. Thanks to the host and judges for a wonderful contest! Now I'm going to sleep for approximately a week.

@Victor_tor So sorry to hear about your aunt, sending you big hugs.

I'm loving all of the entries to this contest so far, such a lot of fun! I'm sorry I haven't had chance to play along, I've barely had any time to get on the computer this past few weeks so haven't even been able to play along. Well done @CatherineTCJD for hosting such a great event! I pinky promise I will make my best attempt to enter your next one (I'm hoping contests will be a frequent thing again)!

@Treehawk : I love your school! The classical architecture is almost as fancy as the school I went to. Oddly enough, mine wasn't a private school. It was owned by the local authority, and was part of the official publicly owned system. I hesitate to call it a "public school", as an oddity of education in the UK, is that (for obscure historic reasons) the most expensive and famous private schools are called "Public Schools". Irrationally enough, although it was part the "normal" publicly funded state school system, my school charged fees, as Edinburgh Corporation, the local authority of the day, saw fees from parents who could afford to pay them, as a source of additional income. Though part of the public education system, the school certainly didn't consider itself in any sense "ordinary". It claims to be the oldest "high school" in the world. To be honest there was a fair bit of snobbery about the school, which made me increasingly uncomfortable as I reached my later teenage years. Fortunately for me, for my last three years in the school, I had a scholarship, which salved my conscience to some extent -- my parents were paying next to nothing in tiny top-up fees. In my final school year, 1968-69, the school moved from that beautiful old building to a boring modern structure on the far side of the city. Today the original 200 year-old building looks in better condition than its 1960s replacement, where the school is still going today, maintaining at least some of its old traditions. It stopped charging fees soon after I left. Today it is a non-selective comprehensive school, taking all comers from its catchment area. However, as I'm sure the 1960s planners intended, that catchment area just happens to be in the poshest part of the city, far away from the Old Town, where the school had its historic roots!

My second play-along entry, the ranch house, is nearly ready. Hopefully I'll post in the morning.

Default Round 3 - Adobe Photo Shoot

The day was beautiful with a blue sky and the sun beating down on the desert when Marky Sharky's tank slid out the back of the cargo plane. Down it went onto the deadpan, breaking. Marky bounced as it hit and found himself careening through the hot air before landing in a pool on a long skinny lot. Long and skinny like a hammerhead. The pool was just right. Marky decided right then and there that he must own this lot, renovate the house, and build a business to keep himself in guppies and other shark foods.
Welcome to Marky Sharky's Adobe Photo Shoot!!!
Come one, come all!!!

Customers can go inside the shop and practice their sharp shooting on the indoor gun range or go upstairs to the studio for a portrait. Marky picks up a few simoleans by taking photos of the locals as they practice their aim. Posters and prints can be purchased upstairs in the studio.
Since the only revenue in the shop comes from selling prints, Marky set out a ticket taker so the locals and townies can come on in and enjoy swimming with the fishies. They have free rein of the yard and house, too. As long as they're happy, the simoleans are flowing.

The main floor of Marky's home is devoted to cooking and dining. Food being such a great way to keep those customers happy. A room to watch tv and/or read can be found upstairs to the right of the stairway. At the top of the stairs is a bathroom for the use of guests and customers. Marky's bedroom and personal bathroom are at the front of the house. It's his only locked door. Privacy, privacy, privacy - don't you know?
Curious Sims can go down into the basement and see the shark tank that didn't break on that treacherous fall from the plane.

Requirements and Changes and Info's:
This lot is loaded with cc.
The home is decorated in an aquatic theme, Marky being a shark and all.
Telephones are found on the wall in both the house and shop.
A ceiling smoke detector is above the stove in the kitchen.
There are two pool ladders, four pool lights. There are lights scattered about the exterior of the pool, as well.
Both buildings have security alarms.
Tables and chairs for dining are on the main floor of the house and the backyard.
The barbecue grill has a food prep omsp so that Sims can prepare food on the side tray.
Kitchen is equipped with fridge, stove and several counters free for food prep.
A trash bin can be found next to the range.
Marky has a double bed.
Per @CatherineTCJD, I remade the house in the same spot with a foundation basement. The house is the same size with a second floor and back deck added.
I removed the tunnel and little hut at the front. I made the pool wider where the tunnel was and built a shiny new shop in the front.
The fish in the pool are animated. Tropical fish only show in play mode (two pics included to show.)
I tested this lot and everything seems to work like it should. No Sims throwing hissy fits or getting jammed. Yay, team.
Ready for a Look-See?

Default (Rather late) Play Along- Adobe Compound
I really loved all of the renovation lots, but I picked the Adobe Compound as a personal challenge to myself, because it was such a tricky lot size, and having to keep the pool and columns added an extra difficulty! I challenged myself to keep the building as close to the original layout as possible, whilst making it viable as a house and business. And completely Vanilla!

{Please excuse red pause lines and crap pics- this is totally vanilla, with the excption of RLS, Widescreen mods, some scripts edited to enable hidden walls and floors, and the CEP.)

Johnny Smith's Solar Salon!

Relax and unwind at the Solar Salon hosted by Strangetown's one and only hero, Johnny Smith! Enjoy a massage from our beautiful masseuse, Renee Andrews, or have a stylish makeover from the town's No. 1 stylist, Some Randomly Generated Sim! Partake of a gentle swim in the pool- don't forget to wave at the people in the viewing gallery!- or rest in comfort in the hot tub. The sun shines all day in Strangetown, so you can sunbathe on the lounger in beautiful, tranquil surroundings to your heart's content. Cool off at the end of the day with an invigorating shower before you head home, a soothed and pampered sim.

Notes:
Johnny's house and back garden are kept private from customers via a lockable gate.
There is no indoor bin, instead there is a trash compactor.
The customer bathroom has communal outdoor showers. These are screened by a deck wall, which I accessed by modding the wall script files.
The zebra crossing is made from hidden floor tiles which I unlocked by modding the floor scripts.
All prickly pear plants are accessible by the gardener, as is the hedge.
I playtested for several days and visitors stayed for a long time, except Bella Goth who is a snob anyway so feck her. I think Johnny would only make a profit if he worked really hard at selling massage and makeover. He really needs to add a vending machine, I think that would make visitors stay for longer.

This was fun!
(I'm in awe of the other contestants' entries! )

Default Round Two Play-Along : Monopolis Flatts Ranch

I don't have Seasons or the Riverblossom Hills neighbourhood, so we had to build our ranch somewhere else. I looked at Bluewater, downtown Veronaville, and indeed old Veronaville itself, but couldn't see a suitable vacant site in any of them. The only place to build seemed to be our Monopolis sub-hood, where Jones & Moltke Construction (Veronaville) Ltd. have an ongoing relationship with the billionaire financier Milburn Pennybags. But one thing that are decidedly lacking in Monopolis are hills. Clearly our ranch needed a different name. So, "Monopolis Flatts Ranch" it is!

From the outset this property has been renovated with the Fleming family in mind. You can see a picture of them in front of the Downtown Changing Hut here. Until their move to this Ranch house a couple of days ago, they had been living there for nearly a year. The family consists of Beckie Fleming and her children Darren and Priscilla. They also have a teenage lodger called Jimmy Parrat, who has become a family friend, with good relationships both with Beckie and Darren.

(This picture was taken mid-morning on their first day in the Ranch. Jimmy wanted to be friends with Andrew, so he talked to him for over an hour on the 'phone, and then invited him round. In the picture Andrew is walking along the sidewalk/footpath towards us, while Jimmy is greeting Meylan Veitch, a gay Romance boy from Westside Veronaville [that's the "Italian" side of the canal]. In the background, beside the swing, Beckie is talking to Janis Stout, a local girl that Priscilla met in the street and invited in to play with.)

The Future?

As always in my game, I have to think about the future. This house was renovated for the Fleming family -- not just as a play-along for this contest. I'm sure the Flemings will want to make changes. I gave them just over §25,000 to start off, and the house cost §23,568, so they have a little money available to spend right away. I think some sort of outdoor lighting will be an early priority, so they can make better use of the garden and decking area after dark. They'll probably add at least a token light fitting inside the barn. They might try moving the folding chair there into the dining area where it could be more useful.

Currently Beckie's Long Term Want is to eat 200 grilled cheese sandwiches, but I normally see this and its associated aspiration, as just a punishment for using the ReNuYuSenso Orb when in a mood below gold. (I ave an "any LTW for any aspiration" mod.) So I think I’ll let her re-roll her LTW. Then she'll really need to get a job, possibly guided by her new LTW. With a regular income, they'll be able to look at further improvements to the garden and house. Things they might get are outdoor benches, an outdoor lounger, and an outdoor chess table, all of which they had in the backyard of the Downtown Changing Hut. Some sort of makeover of the barn is a possibility, but I think it may be subject to some sort of conservation listing -- it's certainly an interesting structure. So it's unlikely to be walled in. In time they'll probably want to buy better beds, and maybe erect some sort of boundary fence.

As I've mentioned Beckie and Jimmy Parrat are already on best friend terms. Once she starts work, she will be very dependent on him for her childcare needs. I'm sure they genuinely like each other. It's interesting to speculate on the romantic possibilities for both of them. Jimmy has got to know several gay boys, and started to befriend some of them. Well it's hard not to, if you're a teenager in Veronaville today. But as yet he has shown no romantic interest in any of these boys. Unusual though it might be in Veronaville, I'm starting to consider the possibility that he might actually be straight! For her part, Beckie has had a recent lesbian relationship with Melinda Bryant, a recent arrival who is currently staying in the Monopolis Changing Shed. But this relationship hasn't got past the mutual crush stage. She has clearly had a relationship with a male before, and has had two lovely children by him. I'm pretty sure she'd be willing to enter a relationship with another male if she liked him enough. So what if the friendship between Beckie and Jimmy developed into something stronger? A marriage between them would certainly be legal under Veronaville law, and I think would be socially acceptable in what is becoming a very tolerant liberal society. But an actual marriage between a teenage boy and an older woman would still be a first, even in my game. If they do get together, he could move into the main bedroom with her, and they could turn his little bedroom into a small nursery for Beckie's third child. This could be interesting to watch.

Latest news from the Flemings: Beckie and Jimmy have got together! They were sitting together chatting on the sofa, and I spotted that she had an option to cuddle him. Tentatively I clicked on it. . . Instant hearts above both their heads. He has a crush on her, but she has instantly fallen in love with him! I know many Simmers mod instant love out, but I rather like to realise that I know someone (Beckie Fleming) who is romantic enough to be capable of instant love. Beckie is a Pleasure Sim and Jimmy is popularity. I think I'll post their picture in the Sim Couples thread!

Beckie has also got a new LTW -- she now wants to have 20 simultaneous best friends. And, having a high interest in fashion, she's taken a job as a trainee model.

Finally taking the time to enjoy everyone's posts! I'm up to AndrewGloria's Round 1 playalong.

@AndrewGloria, this is waaaay late, but did you consider moving the second bedroom to the first floor, in addition to opening up the kitchen? You could put the living room on the second floor, since you already have a couch up there. The spot where your kitchen is would make a good bedroom, and then you could put the 1st floor bathroom where the dining table is, leaving the rest of the floor to be open concept kitchen and dining.

Some example pics to show what I mean. I also put in a back door since you mentioned needing one.

That wouldn't really solve the spacing in the upstairs bedroom, though--you'd still need a mod, so for best playability, I'd also recommend moving the stairs to the edge of the room, to maximize floor space and give you that square back in the upstairs bedroom. Like so:

Just some ideas for next time, since you mentioned some routing issues. I love playing around with layouts and thought I share. It's been really cool to see how everyone takes the same start and goes in different directions. Anyway, really good job on staying under $20K, AndrewGloria--I forgot how difficult that is without Ikea stuff! I also recommend Numenor's Slot Enable Package, to make corner counter slots useable and Pescado's Door Jam Fix, which keeps doors from getting left open by lights or stair end tiles. If you don't already have them, both are really useful in tight spaces and can even be used with OFB!
